Xavin

Powers: Possesses the Skrull ability of shape shifting along with pyrokinesis, psionic force fields, invisibility, superhuman strength and plasticity due to a Super-Skrull training program.

Born into the Skrull Royal Family, Xavin was often used as a diplomatic pawn and was offered up in an arranged marriage to Karolina Dean after her parents gave the Skrulls the coordinates of Majesdane to destroy.

Whilst training in the Super-Skrull training program Xavin’s parents died and they departed for Earth to find Karolina in the hopes of ending the Majesdanian-Skrull conflict. Believing Xavin to be a threat, Karolina and her friends ran away. After later explaining the threat to their people Karolina and Xavin departed for Majesdane with Xavin taking the form of a female to suit Karolina’s desires. The two developed romantic feelings a deep bond however their wedding ceremony ended in a fight between the two races with the Skrulls ultimately launching antimatter missiles at Majesdane.

Xavin and Karolina arrived on Earth just in time to help the Runaways save Molly and Xavin joined the group. They later had to face their former mentor alongside the Runaways and Young Avengers when the Skrulls began their invasion of Earth.

To spare their beloved, Xavin left Earth in the disguise of Karolina after the Majesdanians sought her out to stand trial for the treachery of her parents.

Lorna Dane

Powers: Magnetic field manipulation allowing her to create force-fields, control metal objects, fly and manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum.

Lorna Dane is a mutant, born of an affair between her mother Suzanna and Magneto. Her mother's husband, Arnold, later learned of this affair and confronted his wife while he was flying her and Lorna on his plane. An argument erupted, upsetting the infant Lorna whose desperation to make her parents stop fighting caused an early manifestation of her immense magnetic abilities, which caused a magnetic pulse that destroyed the plane and killed her parents, as well as giving her hair its iconic green colour. Lorna survived the crash and was found by her true father, Magneto, who had been drawn to the location by her magnetic pulse. Believing that she was not ready for her abilities or the life he could offer her, he had his associate Mastermind use his illusionary powers to re-write Lorna's memories of that day, leaving her to believe that her parents died in a plane crash when she was an infant. Lorna was raised by Arnold's sister and her husband, and grew up thinking that they are her real parents until she was informed of the truth when she was almost twenty years old.

Lorna subsequently joined the X-Men, and for a time she was romantically inclined towards her teammate Iceman. Eventually, Lorna fell in love with Alex Summers, the X-Man known as Havok. Neither Lorna nor Alex wished to lead lives as costumed adventurers, and after discovering a mutual interest in geophysics the pair left the team and began doctoral research in the Diablo mountain range.

Lorna and Alex settled in New Mexico, completed their degrees, and occasionally - and reluctantly - aided their former teammates.

Karolina Dean

Powers: Can absorb solar radiation and convert it into a unique energy type and use it for energy blasts and force fields; also has the ability of flight.

Nearly a quarter-century ago, two extraterrestrials came to Earth and a few years later the pair, called Frank and Leslie Dean, were a married couple with acting careers. Five years later, the Deans and five other Californian couples formed the villain group known as the Pride.

The Deans worked to give Karolina a normal childhood untouched by Hollywood scandal; when she was four, they gave her a bracelet which secretly suppressed her alien abilities. Neither Karolina nor the Pride's other children suspected their parents' activities until Karolina was sixteen when her and her friends discovered their parents' latest murder. Karolina then discovered her alien heritage, and most of her friends also developed powers or discovered advanced technology. The six runaways resolved to become heroes, most of them using codenames.

For months Karolina struggled with her identity, being both an alien and a lesbian. She fell in love with her best friend, Nico Minoru, only to suffer a rejection. This was timed with the arrival of Xavin, a young Skrull prince who had been betrothed to Karolina by her parents without her knowledge. Karolina discovered that her parents had been exiled from their homeworld, Majesdane, for inciting a war with the Skrulls. Xavin wanted Karolina to join him in hopes that their marriage could bring peace, but she initially declined his proposal because of her sexual orientation. She agreed after Xavin used his shape-changing abilities to become a woman. Curious about her homeworld and hoping to end the ongoing war, Karolina reluctantly left the Runaways for space.

Karolina fell in love with Xavin, and for a time the two were able to arrange a cease-fire between their races. Though the wedding plans went smoothly, an attack during the actual ceremony forced the couple to flee to Earth, and Karolina and Xavin have re-joined the Runaways.
