The World Between Worlds, Vergences, Force Wounds, and Dyads
So let’s sort through this real quick:
With all the stuff being spread around you’ve probably already heard about the World Between Worlds but essentially it’s a subplanar space connecting different Vergences in the Force.
A Vergence isn’t really a particular thing, it’s essentially a name for any Force phenomenon that concentrates the living Force somewhere in unusual amounts. When Qui Gon calls Anakin a Vergence in Phantom Menace he isn’t saying that a Vergence is its own particular thing, he’s assigning a broad identifier. As we know now, Anakin’s Vergence was him being conceived in/by the Force. A lot of the material I’ve seen for WBW so far discounts this completely and acts like a Vergence is its own independent phenomena, which it’s not. When the WBW connects Vergences the Vergences themselves can be a number of things, and one of those things is a Force Wound.
A Force Wound is created by something truly terrible happening, usually a great loss of life. The Alderanian Asteroid Field, which we know to be the remains of the planet Alderan after Vader destroyed it, is the site of a Force Wound. Dagobah is also the site of a Force Wound, and that Force Wound is the Vergence on Dagobah. It is also possible for a Force Wound to exist in a person, as with other kinds of Vergences. One of the ways this can happen is to destroy a particularly powerful Force bond.
When DLF says ‘there’s a Vergence on Exegol’, which they have, we still don’t know what kind. Given how strongly Exegol is linked to the Dark side it may be a Cave of Mirrors-type phenomena, where a particular portion or alignment of the Force is centered somewhere in a way we don’t really know much about. HOWEVER, it is now possible that there’s an additional, secondary, or heightened Vergence on Exegol; a Force Wound caused by the destruction of a dyad bond. Equally possible is that Rey has a Force Wound herself, though that seems unlikely, since Rey seems fine at the end of TROS and having a Force Wound would either drive her mad, turn her Dark, or make her cut herself off from the Force instinctively just to survive. But if Ben’s death created a new Vergence, that itself might be the link to the WBW that would allow him to survive.
