yo my fellow forensicators, where you at?
just returned from a tournament in St. Louis. I performed poetry and prose for the first time. Team Interp! ;)
By the end of a meet
So I just finished my last round of speech ever.
Kinda heavy. My teammates keep telling me to stay positive, but honestly, there’s no way I’m going to nationals. My DI finals round was one if the hardest I’ve ever seen. I don’t deserve to place higher than any if the other competitors. One if them was a girl from our…I guess you could call them our sister team or something along those lines. We travel together, and when it comes to big meets we just act as one team. Anyway this girl is a freshman, and she made it to finals in DI with this piece about psychiatrists. She blew me away. To get so far in National Qualifiers as a freshman is a feat in itself, but her acting was awesome. Funny thing is, she’s really really quiet most if the time. I hadn’t really heard her full voice until I first saw her piece in finals. Another girl had a piece about a deaf woman, and she learned sign language for the entire thing. I was honored to have even been lined up next to those talented people. So I guess this is it. I can honestly say doing speech was the best choice I ever made. I don’t know where I would be without it. It changed my life. Hell, sometimes I think it saved my life.
Watching DI finals.
