Cleanliness
I smelled my clothes from last night and they were terrible,
I had been wearing the pants for over a week, including at the Earthship last-week, and the shirt a few days at least, to top it off I had been working in the forest garden all day. Also I could smell a faint hint of monthly juices that may have mixed in from a wash with reusable pads.
So ya, maybe Sarah was simply offended by the horrible odour, which would explain why she fled so quickly in contrast to other times.
Actually throughout my life, the only complaint that I've gotten from people regularly (every few years) is smell. Though people at Mooredale didn't complain yesterday, John did open his window to get some ventilation when driving me home. A few years back it was related to my poor diet, such as eating too much salami, and not enough fruits, more recently now that I'm vegan, I've managed to get my bodily odours to be relatively pleasant, one of the key ingredients is fenugreek. Earlier this year we had an apartment odour problem from accumulating too much pet litter, we have solved it by taking out compost more regularly, and Samta maintains the rabbit cages and litter-boxes. Now am working on making the clothes pleasant.
Anyhow the solution it seems to me is to get into the habit of showering with my clothes on, that way I always have at least come clean clothes to wear. Also the clothes can get much cleaner than if I wash them all together, i.e. no period juices.
I got some highly-concentrated Bio-life plant-based dish-detergents today, which are the best soaps I've used for the price $3 per 750ml. I got them in pear, mango and grapefruit mmm.
As recently one of my cats has been shitting on the floor, I guess grass in her litter box doesn't suffice, or rather it does, but requires regular changing, so I got kitty litter to fill it with, recycled newsprint is quite good with odour control.
Today when I was getting my stuff, I could smell my own clothes, and when I can smell them, that means it's simply treacherous.
Nevertheless at least 2 women came up to me and flirted, lol. I was so uncomfortable about my smell that I kept it short. One followed me to the soap section to say hello enthusiastically, she was wearing a wackload of makeup, so I'm thinking perhaps she was from the makeup department. Another fem told me that I looked like some guy she met in Los Angeles, and went on about our similarities.
Coincidentally while I was transfixed on going home and showering, thunder started rolling in, with large billowing clouds.
But ya, now that I've done my first fully-clothed shower I feel much better, and hopefully so does my clothing.
I added a bit of the dish detergent to a sponge, and washed the clothes as I would myself, I read about this form of shower laundry in a traveling guide.
One of the main reasons I don't use machine-wash, is since there wont be a machine to wash if we're on a boat, or in many other scenario's, may as well develop personal hygiene skills that can be applied with minimal extra equipment.
