Gender Headcanon: binary trans boy! it was my very first trans headcanon back when i learned that You Could Do That in HS fandom (tho trans boy!tails was the first i stanned with my life) but THERE’S A LOT TO SUPPORT IT. like what originally struck me was that... in universe btwn season 1 and season 2, his voice got slightly higher? and since his whole schtick was being Super Masc All The Time its super reasonable to believe he was deliberately pitching his voice down and only stopped once s2 pushed him to be more comfortable with befriending other characters.
I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ON THIS TOO, like being the only one of his siblings to not have an alliterative name, (Brad, Clarence, Brianna and their parents Honey and Harold), him being closer in body-type to Brianna and Honey than Brad and Harold, people not taking his love of super masc stuff seriously, the connotations of him being called a shrimp specifically, most girls liking the Idea of him rather than him as a person and JUST... the idea of him respecting people as they are and hating the idea of forcing them to change for his benefit (K-NEIN... really sticks out to me for that reason,) he like. just reads as Super Not Cishet and i love it
A ship I have with said character: KICKGUNTHER REAL.... like somehow Even Realer than when i first watched it as a kid... they genuinely love the shit out of each other and like... It’s Actual Canon that Gunther is Kick’s weakness on different levels, and someone he genuinely admires and respects for Who He Is! like me and my buddies theorize he doesnt realize that his Extreme Friendship for him is love because most of the love in his life is heterosexual torture porn so he thinks that dumping jackie at the altar for him is just a straight boy dude thing and- yeah holy shit on like a subtextual level its actually? very canon? BY ACCIDENT I THINK
A BROTP I have with said character: Kick/Jackie and Kick/Scarlett! the former because he does enjoy jackie’s company when shes not being a Wacky Sexual Harasser and the latter is... look lbr here kick and scarlett are gay and thats the only reason she managed to be his only friendship with a Non-Family Member!Girl that wasnt weird... i feel like theyd text each other all the time while Scarlett is off filming Teena Sometimes
A NOTP I have with said character: KICK/KENDALL BITES ASS. LIKE.... to the level that its genuinely insulting that its so popular. its up there with SasuSaku for basically the same reason: kendall just. does Not respect kick as a person and is outwardly antagonistic towards him for? basically no reason other than her not knowing how to Deal. but EVEN WORSE because she can literally try and cheat on her canon BF just to go after him when hes openly not interested. I have YET to see a fanon take on them that doesnt soften her into another character, make her PAWG (t)HOTTIE or retcon in attraction on kick’s end that? post Dancing With The Enemy isnt even really there on an episode-to-episode basis? LIKE THE SHIT’S SO THOROUGHLY JOSSED IN S2 THAT PPL HAVE TO TAKE SCENES OUT OF CONTEXT TO MAKE IT WORK AND ITS SOOOOOOO BAD
A random headcanon: too many to count, but a big one is that instead of becoming a daredevil, when he grows up, he ends up with his own public access kid show helping kids learn how to be Extreme a la the Kratt Brothers or Tony Hawk? when hes not getting kidnapped by carnies lmao basically he gets conned into starting a Skate Club in grade 11 so that he can graduate with all of his hours but he enjoys the experience of being both a Leader and Cool Guy that he ends up sticking with it? I FEEL LIKE HE’D get a lot out of helping kids find their inner strength and ITS SO GOOD I LOVE IT
General Opinion over said character: Straight up one of my favourite protags ever! hes genuinely... such a sincere and empathetic kid even if its not immediately obvious (that and he reads as super autistic which HOOGH) i dont understand why the show’s so dedicated to humiliating him and knocking him down a peg because HE REALLY DOESNT DESERVE IT AND TBH HE DESERVES A BETTER SHOW... he’s too fucken good for all the het drama and stupid bullshit people keep dragging him into so Please Save Red Clarence
