HELLO MY POLLERS!

Just a quick message to let you know in advance that I will be temporarily reducing my poll frequency from 50 polls per day to 40 polls per day, starting from 21st December up until 3rd January. This is because my grandma will be coming to stay with us over the Christmas and New Year period, and I won't have as much time to write polls because I'll be busy spending time with her and caring for her as well. If for any reason I can't manage the 40 polls per day, I may even drop it to 30 polls per day, but I will be back to the full 50 polls daily again on 4th January onwards.

Inspired 2 do this cuz of a conversation I had yesterday but. Let's talk about Sprout Seedly . (Gags)

I'm going 2 start separating talking points for convenience now . Especially since I am now becoming another resident yapper on the Tumblr FYP

Design

Starting off easy, Sprout's design is very.....naked

Most notably his design does nothing 2 communicate his thing being baking . It's very simple and I understand why that design would've been made but there's a lot of design potential for him cuz of it

There's a few things we can do make him more interesting (but also keeping the simple style for both in-game modeling purposes and kids show animation) . Many artists and even myself have given him an apron . I chose 2 do a shorter apron—2 keep Cosmo's design distinct from Sprout's—but many artists do longer or more intricate

You could also add a chef's hat, or other cooking motif (even though his thing is baking, it's mentioned he still does cooking so I think it's fair 2 say that Sprout focuses on cooking more than baking as he's the more "savory" toon)

Small additions, but I think adding just that slight bit more thought would make him more interesting and explain ideas for his character better

Conclusion: make him less naked LOL

Character analysis

Okay so jumping right into it Sprout is heavily mischaracterized . We all know this (or at least most do lol)

And since we all know this, I'm not going 2 get far into the harm of it and etc.

Sprout means . Well . Yes he is very overprotective of his friends, and even people he doesn't consider as close friends

He's hypocritical and will tell u 2 do something that will be in ur best interest but more often than not he won't apply the same courtesy 2 himself. He'll put himself in harm's way 2 ensure the safety of others but that's not necessarily because he loves them genuinely and truthfully.

He's been coded for the role of a big brother figure, a doting mother. That's all he knows and he'll execute it the best he can even though he has no clue what it's supposed 2 look like or if he's even doing it right.

At the end of the day he's trying to look out for everybody .

But Sprout is a very selfish man. I mean he literally has 2 hoard tapes 2 heal people, it's not that hard 2 believe that he has his own ambitions as first priority. To put it simply, Sprout puts his emotions and needs above other people more often than not . He is selfish in the way that he will do anything for the people he cares about, which is why he's so pushy and comes across as such. His selfishness comes in the form of worry and concern for others.

He cares a lot, but that care is expressed in a vain and selfish way. He doesn't actually understand a lot of his friends wants and needs. This is especially true for Cosmo.

You can't talk about Sprout without mentioning Cosmo, it's literally part of their dynamic.

Cosmo relies on Sprout 2 be seen, 2 be worth something.

Sprout loves Cosmo (that fact is indisputable, regardless if it's solely /p or /r), but he doesn't need Cosmo the same way. Sprout will be just fine on his own, he's beloved by many and it would ruin the reputation of Gardenview if he was removed, much like the other mains. His entire existence revolves around Dandy bc it's his world (haha get it).

Cosmo is essentially a plaything for Sprout. A doll that needs 2 be taken care of and doted on. He loves him, but the question presides on if that love is genuine or just fascination. This plays into how Sprout is very ignorant of his friends wants and needs, not if they aren't the same as his own.

Referring back 2 my comic about the popularity contest, Sprout likes to do things his way. He truly didn't feel like he was being cruel 2 Cosmo when he joined it, he thought it was just good fun. Cosmo thought about how he'll never get out of Sprout's shadow and Sprout thoroughly believed they were holding hands and dancing on the stage.

Two very different perspectives of their own relationship. 2 bad they'll never talk it out like normal people because they were never taught how 2 handle these things like normal people!

Personally, I like 2 believe that Sprout learns 2 truly love and respect Cosmo after a while. Especially when the ichor situation happens.

He learns 2 become more loving from the real sense of the word, and not some fascination with the concept. This applies 2 everyone btw, not just Cosmo because even though Sprout's close friends circle is small, he's still got a social life !

i also would like to point out that the suicide squad game really brought in otherworlds and crossing universes and then made them completely understandable as to why this joker isn't technically the real joker or why you have to kill brainiac like 9 times. so therefore ... it's still a completely usable and plausible plotline in the way we can use the brainiac villain for our muses to meet, especially marvel vs. dc.
