Mantic Games Forge Fathers Iron Ancestor!

Painting this guy for a year long painting contest at my LGS, they're doing one entry per two months, with a "Free" entry of your own choosing as well, so 7 submissions, with prizes for each 2 month segment and a grand prize at the end for people who have submitted all seven. July/August theme was "Big" ie 60mm base or larger, and I had had this guy primed and waiting on paint for like a year and bam, now it's painted. As the contest goes on and people forget or lose interest or get distracted the potential pool of finalists becomes ever smaller. I'm thinking that by the end I'll have a pretty good chance of winning. The Grand Prize is just some store credit but hey, that's free shit.

Spaaaaace Dwaaaaaaarfs It's been a busy day for my brushes! Next up on the block were these final three Arkonaut Company, to act as Forge Father Brokkrs. The middle guy will count as armed with a flamer for Warpath, and rounds out the squad at ten men (Dwarfs) strong. Looking closer to the finish line for my Forge Fathers now!

More Stormrage Veterans I've now painted all the infantry from my Forge Fathers starter box, the only things left to complete for the army as it stands are two more Jotuun platforms, and the few Kharadron troopers I've got so far. The squad above are my second squad if Stormrage Veterans, this time with the standard armament of Hailstorm Autocannons. I didn't really enjoy this squad, as the sculpts were a bit lacklustre and ended up looking like mostly metal plates. The places I would have liked to add the red-to-black army scheme didn't really work, so there's only a collar and some back plates, none of which look very inspiring from an opponent's view of the models. Still, they're done now, and I can concentrate on the gorgeous new Arkanaut models I have to round out the army. ... And a massive, flying, boat.

Stormrage Heavy Veterans I had hoped to take a better photo of these to upload, but the weather has left the light outside as attractive as a Russian shotput champion's armpit. So here's an awful photo from the top of my oven! These are my first squad of Stormrage Heavy Veterans for my Forge Fathers army. They're all armed with Magma Cannons, for when you need those tanks extra crispy, and I've upgraded the sergeant to a Huscarl with a Forge Hammer. They aren't the best sculpts if I'm honest. They're from Mantic's first edition of Warpath, and are a bit... out proportionally. They have weird long arms and more stunted legs than necessary. They look OK otherwise the table though, and @andyshandywork1 has learned to fear them ;) Back to the Kharadron next!
