Goodnight : Alucard x Reader GN
Forgemaster!reader x Alucard Set in season 4. Alucard gets nervous with new people hanging around the castle and requests to sleep in with reader. fluff, pining, trauma
The day had gone rapidly fast, sun making way for moon in what seemed like both the longest and shortest day of their lives. The pair had received a deceased rider bearing a plea from a nearby town. After Alucard buried the rider, he fetched the now unowned horse while his counterpart gathered their own undead stead for travel, along with a few night creatures for safety. It was dark upon their arrival to the town, night creatures honing down on the village fences. Almost without thought Alucard jumped to their aid to kill the beasts attacking them. They arrived shortly after with her creatures in toe, they made sure to have their creatures guard the perimeter as to not allow further interruption from their fellow creature. Of course the villages weren't very accepting of the Forge master's undead companions, but after some explaining the villages lowered their weapons. The headwoman of the village seemed kind and genuine, she smelt of iron and sweat. Another man among the group smelt of sulfar - of hell. The only humans they had ever known to smell of hell were their kin, fellow forge masters, something this man clearly wasn't. Distrust was far easier to come by for them, far easier than trust. Yet somehow they were always amazed at how blind Alucard was to such things, something he learnt a harsh lesson from recently.
The human survivors among the village were lucky to have the duo come when they did, helping transport the survivors back to Dracula's castle for safety, not that the road there was very safe. Humans were ripped apart, fed on by night creatures. They pushed against the wild forces of night creature as Alucard took to them on blade and foot. Casualties were quickly totaled including a pet dog from one of the villagers. The night was rough and morning broke long before they reached the safety of the castle. Setting the survivors up with food, water, medical care, and appropriate respite took all of the diurnal waking hour. Eventually moon shun through once more as the survivors took to what little sleep they cold gather. It was the first time since the incident that Alucard had any humans inside the castle, with the forgemaster's stock of night creatures depleted he felt even more unsafe than he did before. Anxieties swirling in his chest, fear grasping at him to spiral. His hands shake, if his heart had a beat he was sure it would be thumping like there's no tomorrow, but he felt clammy like his throat was closing up, his mind getting clouded from images of pain and betrayal. Alas he raised his hand to the wooden door and…
Knock knock knock
It was their room, inside they lay hair sprawled out in their night attire that was made for them. Their body rises at the sound, curious as they has never had a night time guest during their long stay at this castle. Wearily both their legs moved over the side of the bed, toes touching the floor as their night attire fell with gravity. Raising themself, they made their way over to the door and opened it. To their surprised a disheveled Alucard waited outside, eyes a million lightyears away, hands balled into fists as he starts to shake.
"Alucard?" their tone soft yet loud enough to break him out of his traumatizing trance.
Their eyes gazed over his tall form reading his body, before he could tell them what's wrong. Theirr eyes traveled higher meeting his golden orbs, making him skip what little breath was in his half dead body. They stepped back from the door, silently communicating a welcome for him to step inside. Alucard took pace and his long legs strolled inside their room, his body stiff from his thoughts prior. Alucard attempted to shake the thoughts plaguing him, to ground himself in the moment, the now. Him, here, them, here, safe. A relaxing sigh came over his body, releasing some tension from his shoulders. Allowing himself to breathe for the first time since last night.
They closes the door behind him, staying quiet and poised despite their embarrassment for being seen in her night attire, especially by him. In truth they never were quite able to shake the feelings they had for him, the feelings stuck to their core like court gossip or maggots on a corpse. Accepting that he doesn't feel the same was hard to swallow, like a failure to them. Evident by the 'fun' night he had that almost landed him in a coffin permanently. Regardless they cared for him during his depression and trauma, drying his tears as they poured like rain from his swollen eyes. Feeding him when the only thing he could stomach was wine, and trying their best to keep him bathed and clean. They were used to comforting him from nightmares but him being in their room? that was new. They raised an eyebrow, questioning him to his purpose.
"I… couldn't sleep" Alucard drew out his words softly, an admittance. "All those… people… here" he trailed
They knew what he meant. In truth they had been the only human or being he has had any interaction with in the past 2 months, and even then he can get anxious. They hummed in understanding
"I still have a few creatures guarding the castle, I can have a few diverted to keep an extra guard on you" They spoke, they could tell their words only brought him some comfort, not the relief they sought to bring him. "You could… stay here with me" their cheeks flushed with the thought but the way Alucard stood taller, more confident told them they were on the right track "Until those villagers return home, of course"
Alucard smiled, head bowed in thanks. Their cheeks still hot from such an offer.
"I will prepare for bed then" Alucard announced
They nodded, leaving him to dress into his own nightly attire. They sat down on her bed, blowing out the candle swaying on their side of the bed. Laying down on their left side to face the inside of the bed. Their eyelids heavy from being awake so long, the soft dip in the bed alerted them of a presence. Nose to nose the blonde man gazes over the body next to him, their soft breath warm upon his face. Alucard admired how beautiful they are, hair wild, body shaped to their night attire, his feelings for them never left him. His biggest regret was pushing them away in the early days, when they first moved into the castle. He recalled how they would call him by his name, his REAL name. Something they haven't done since his night with the twins. His biggest regret, messing up whatever was going on between the two. Regardless they were still here despite everything, in a way it made it harder - to have them but not truly.
A soft huff came from their lips, they relaxed their body, allowing sleep to drip over themself. Being lulled away they managed to string out a few words before slipping away completely.
"Goodnight…Adrian"
