I loved the Percy and Clarisse interaction scene on the ship. I loved their conversation. I loved Percy telling Clarisse that "a lot of the stuff we do, we do because of our parents, but we are our own people too" and I loved Clarisse showing vulnerability and sharing her doubts and fears while percy makes a peanut butter and jam sandwich just for Clarisse to go "we're not friends" and percy saying "finally" then going back to eat his sandwich.

friend: that’s goo- oh my god! there are two people in your backyard trying to kill each other!

percabeth daughter: huh? oh, no those are my parents. they’re just sparring, don’t worry

friend: sparring? with… a giant knife and… a sword?

percabeth daughter: well they practice hand to hand combat too, but weapons practice is important

friend:

percabeth daughter: come on! let me show you my room

friend: alr- oh my god, is that a horse in your brother’s room?

percabeth daughter, rolling her eyes: ugh mom and dad told him to keep his window closed!

friend: wait, horses just… come into your house? through the second story window?

percabeth daughter: crazy right? they don’t even ask first. like, at least have some manners!

I think the fact that Leah/Annabeth is on the small side fits really well into the story. Annabeth is like 3 apples tall, basically smaller than the average person in the camp. Actually she's pretty much the smallest person in the cast. Plus when you add her backstory it makes sense that she is always on the defense and guarded. With her size, if Leah had acted her other than tough, she could have easily been seen as a damsel. But she's like this petite girl with a big attitude so it just works. Plus it visually plays into Percy's overprotectiveness of her in future seasons.

kid: you were a wanted criminal by age twelve

percy: …your mother never-

kid: she was wanted right alongside you

percy: ……your grandmother-

kid: -‘s ex husband is still “missing”

percy: hey! they can never prove it!

kid: prove what exactly?

percy: ………your grandfather-

kid: you mean the man mom ran away from when she was seven because he was neglectful? you want him to be my role model?

percy: …………fuck, i don’t know…bragging rights against your siblings? if your brother ever starts acting up i can just say “your sister never did anything like this!”

kid: …now you’re making some sense
