Terrax Pattern Termite Assault Drill

Last week I finished my Termite, ready for the Horus Heresy Doubles Tournament at Warhammer World. I’ve loved this model from the moment I saw it and picked it up earlier this year. It was a pleasure to build and I enjoyed every moment of painting it. I played with the textured technical paints for the first time and used a lot of weathering powder to try and give it a well-used appearance.

Horus Heresy Doubles Tournament  Game 2 - Mechanicum & Raven Guard Vs. Ultramarines & Custodes

This was an exciting game for us because we were looking forward to playing against the Emperor’s Custodian Guard; an army we had never played before. We soon learned that it was an army we wouldn’t want to play again!

With our opponents setting up first and favouring one flank, we decided to set up entirely on the opposite flank to try and weaken the impact of their assault. This largely worked, but unfortunately our firepower proved to be incredibly ineffective against the Custodes who weathered it bravely. 

We suffered a big setback when the Domitar was destroyed in the first round of shooting from the Custodes Caladius Grav-Tank. After suffering one wound, it was forced to take a toughness test, which it subsequently failed on the roll of a six and was removed from play.

With the key element of our assault against the Custodes neutralised we were placed on the back foot and had to desperately fight to score some points. We caused minor damage to various units, but ultimately could never get a strong foothold.

The game ended with us scoring 10 points to their 18.

Result: Loss

Domitar Class Battle-Automata

I’ve finally finished my Domitar. It tool a lot of work because it is an incredibly detailed miniature, but I’m really pleased with the end result. It’s probably the biggest miniature I’ve ever painted and will be the centre-piece for my tournament army. Just three Thallax left to finish and I am done!

Ursurax Cohort Unit Completed

I’ve now finished my unit of Ursurax for my Horus Heresy Mechanicum Tahgmata army. This is one of the units that most drew me towards Forgeworld’s Mechanicum range because I just love how much movement has been captured in these miniatures. 

Work is progressing nicely for this army. I just have two more small units of Thallax and my Domitar to complete.

Mechanicum Thallax Cohort

Here is my first completed Thallax unit for my Horus Heresy Mechanicum Taghmata army. I’m pleased with how they look together and think it is a stronger look as a unit than individual miniatures.

Doing the edge highlighting with Runefang Steel on all of the distressed, rusty metal is proving to be quite tiresome, but as long as I keep getting these results it will all be worth it.

30th Anniversary Imperial Space Marine - Raptors Chapter

I’ve just finished off my Imperial Space Marine miniature to join my Raptors army. I struggled to decide whether he should join my Raptors or my Heresy-era Alpha Legion, but I thought the Raptors’ colours would work well on him and I am happy with my choice. This was a really fun mini to paint and I’m so glad I have him to add a bit more character to my army.
