they tried

a psychid moth caterpillar trundles along in its mobile home stitched together from debris and silk. it’s stopped by a Hospitalitermes nasute-caste termite who pauses its patrol to investigate the strange fuzzy cone. after the soldier finds no threat, the little bagworm resumes its wandering

In Burkina Faso, farmers dig small zai pits into hard, dry soil and fill them with compost or manure. These tiny pits work like little rain traps, helping water sink in and bringing worn-out soil back to life. Sources also say the organic matter can attract termites, and their tunnels help even more water soak into the ground. Nature really brought the whole squad.
