Haikyuu Episode 14: Formidable Opponents
This episode comes with an flashback scene of Sawamura and his old teammate along with the missing signals scene from the day before their official practice match with Nekoma in the manga. Also, that guy from the store wasn't a former Karasuno member. He was on the neighborhood team. Whoops...The banner just says Fly now. I feel like the show is trying to prepare me for something...

Haikyuu Chapter 35: Formidable Opponents
REFLECTION:
The chapter starts with another high school volleyball team called Tokonami High School...Volleyball Team. After an Alternate Character Reading gag, they find out they're up against Karasuno. ALSO KNOWN AS The Flightless Crows. Oi, nicknames are hard to live down. Anyway, the team thinks that the team are full of wash-outs so the match will be easy but their captain still makes them practice. Meanwhile the captain himself, Ikejiri Hayato, remembers that he used to be on a team with one of Karasuno's own: our Daddy Sawamura.
So Sawamura has development coming up. Alright.
Back at Karasuno, Ukai is drilling the shit out of everyone. Hinata flashes back to Ukai giving them the dirt on what they can expect in the upcoming tournament. Namely, REVENGE ON NEKOMA. After practice, Tanaka is checking out a magazine where he shows Hinata a spread on the current #1 Volleyball Man: Ushijima Wakatoshi. He's at the school Kageyama was rejected from for being a prick. Ukai then tells them there are other teams they need to watch out for. For starters, there's Wakutani-Minami, who might be full of shorties but they have good fundamentals and specialize in receives, the thing that Karasuno currently sucks at. Then there's Datekou-Gyou, also known as the Impregnable Fortress which already sound like a complete bitch to play against. No surprise that they were the team that Karasuno lost to last year. Hell, they were the team that traumatized Asahi. Then of course is our old buddies, Aobajousai. They finished as in the top 4 last year. Then, there's the Shao Khans themselves: Shiratorizawa with the aforementioned Ushijima Wakatoshi as their ace. When Asahi remembers that technically Karasuno won a match against Aobajousai when he and Nishinoyo were out, Sawamura points out that was because Oikawa was out until the end of the match. As soon as he stepped back in, the team was backed into a corner. Ukai uses that opportunity to put the fear of God into them, pointing out that no team enters a tournament to lose. From that point, everyone makes it clear that they ain't losing that tournament either. They ain't flightless crows...they're THE CROW!
(Spike this.)
Takeda then comes in with the tournament brackets, showing their first opponents. Tokonami. Resolute, the team is out to peck out the eyes of their first opponents.
BURN.

Some people try to eliminate the threat. I try to surpass it. There is no better defense than a really good offense.
