"Are you even listening to yourself?"
"My dear Rosalind.... I feel I may be the only man in this world that knows what has to be done."
Much Changed, Still the Same- R. Lutece and Pat
Patrick, now a young man of 16, had no business mucking around in the sunken sections of Rapture, least of all Fontaine’s department store. Yet there he was. Mucking about and sticking his nose in all the places it couldn’t possibly belong. There was only one good reason to loiter in that place; the tears. Sometimes, when he looked just right, he could see it. The other places. But they’d be gone just as fast. Something was broken here. Something existed where it shouldn’t. And if he was very lucky, and a little stupid, he’d catch one as it flickered, and be gone.
There was a place, just off the edge where a pipe had burst, that flickered often. In and out. Through it he was certain he could see that other place. That place where Rosalind and gone. But if he missed this one, if he failed, there was little hope in coming back at all. One wrong move and he’d disappear for good.
“Now’r never.”
The boy leapt, closing his eyes and waiting to feel the plummet as he never found solid ground again. Only… there was certainly ground beneath his feet.
“No way… no f’in’ way…”
He’d made it.
Pat clapped his hands together in triumph, glancing over his shoulder to see about the window. It was gone. He figured it would be. And now that he was here he just had to---
The boy pulled his hat down over his eyes. What WAS that? That light. Like a thousand camera’s going off at the same time, only without end. Never in his life had he seen something so bright. How was he supposed to find Mrs. Lutece if he couldn’t SEE?
“’Scuse me?” He reached blindly out, hoping to touch a human being who could help him just a little. Just for a moment. While he tried to adjust. “Do ya know where Rosalind Lutece might be?” Not that directions would help the Irishman much. Not when even squinting his eyes open sent shockwaves of pain to his head.
"Make me."
"Are we going to go through this again?"
*peers from a tear* And from his angle, it appears that I have sold myself. An interesting but rather shameful variation.
...
“It’s not bubblegum. You don’t chew it.”
The boy stopped chewing for a moment. When Mrs. Lutece tells you to not do something, generally, you shouldn’t. But on the same hand, he really enjoyed messing with her.
Slowly, as slow as he could, he chewed again, even going so far as to speak around the action.
"What is it then? An’ why can’t I chew it? It looked chewable."
Are you certain that eliminating the vast amounts of Bookers and Comstocks is worth your time? It could be a complicated task considering that you are tampering with space and time but my brother and I shall be glad to assist you when the need arises.
"I know what I am doing, Miss Lutece. I only intend to wipe away the Comstocks that were not erased when I...Said good-bye to Booker.." Elizabeth spat out. Shifting her weight to the other side she continued, "But...When -IF- the time comes I'll be sure to ask for you help."
Other version of myself, I'll bet my entire laboratory that Robert will purr within 0.5 seconds.
You're on.
