Advice!!!
My advice to freshmen is to always put more than your best effort into your work. As foster children, the odds of going to college are tremendously stacked against us. We have to work harder than our many of our peers because most of us don't have the support they do. Many of us cannot ask our parents for help when we hit a road block. So staying focused on school, while also maintaining a good balance of fun, is the most important job we may have right now. And that is a job that must be taken with real sincerity.
Ambitions
First off I want to say sorry for the late post. These past few weeks have been pretty crazy and I doubt they'll slow down much before school starts. But the way I always maintained focus on my goals and dreams was by constantly reminding myself how far I've come but that there is still much to go. Looking back on my life now, compared to where I was five years ago, is overwhelming. Today, I am on a clear and focused path towards my goals but there is still a lot to do. Reminding myself of where I come from (and how easy it is to fall back into that) while also looking ahead is what keeps me motivated to work for my goals and dreams.
Next Five Years
Sorry for being late! Been a busy summer guys! But in five years I see myself starting up my filmmaking career, possibly in documentary making. Where that takes me though is still up in the air. But hey, that just means all the doors are open and I’m ready to figure out which one is the right one. What I’m doing now though to keep those doors open is doing my best to build experience as well as connections. For example, I am in the early planning, if everything goes right, to do a short documentary as my project for the Honors College at school. A documentary focusing on LGBT children in foster care. Fingers crossed it comes through right! As well as doing an internship for the fall semester. Basically, as I said before, all the doors are open and I plan on keeping them open till I find the right one!
