A sort of supergroup with ex-Raspberries and Rascals members - a little on the slick side, but still very appealing.

En el apartado "canciones que Flamin´ Groovies podían haber versionado", esta maravillosa “I´d Rather You Leave Me” tan Byrds de The Choir, a los que conocí hace muchos años en el sensacional recopilatorio doble “Who Put The Bomp!”. El Coro es el grupo de los años sesenta que dio pie a la creación de los powerpoperos setenteros Raspberries y Fotomaker. Anteriormente puse "I´ll Get By" de Crazy Horse y "Have You Seen Her Face" de los propios Byrds. En los tres casos me refiero a los Groovies de segunda época, los de Sire.
Me comunica Pedro Power Pop que el supergrupo de los años 90 Chariot hizo una buena versión de "I´d Rather You Leave Me", y, sí, es un poco más rápida y "cerosa". Chariot fue el efímero grupo formado por Ken Stringfellow de los Posies, Brian Young (Walkabouts, Fountains of Wayne, Posies), Javier Escovedo (Zeros ), Pat Fear (White Flag) con el único LP de curioso título "I Am Ben Hur" (Munster, 1998).

"Tonight" de Raspberries en honor a Eric Carmen. La breve carrera del grupo de Cleveland, Ohio, estuvo cuajada de canciones con grandes riffs y melodías descendientes directas de los grupos de la British Invasion. Es el caso de "Tonight", de "Ecstasy", ambas de su tercer LP "Side 3" (Capitol, 1973), de su mayor éxito "Go All The Way", de "I Wanna Be With You", aunque la banda de Wally Bryson, un día llamada The Choir, también tenía una cara más reposada y baladística - bien, llamémosla meliflua o melosa- que completaba su visión pop, su visión rock. Luego tanto Bryson con Fotomaker como Carmen en solitario siguieron "todo el camino" hacia el AOR y el soft rock.
