Nirvana Documentary about the Foufs

Today I found a nice little Documentary movie about the Nirvana Concert in Foufs! It's five minutes long and a part of a series called "Ich war dabei" (Eng: I was there) where people experienced importent Moments in the history/ music history and share their memorys!

It's sadly just in German and in French but you should see it anyway because the illustration is so awesome.

The story itself tells the experience of a man who worked in the Foufs as a DJ and a part of his job was to take care about the bands. So he tells his experience of a bad mooded Kurt Cobain and how he Kurt experienced and was his impressons of Kurt was. The details are so impressing.

For the English speakers a little description of what is told:

The narrator explains where this scene is located and what kind of scene it is, which bands performed in foufs and that it is the most famous underground club

He tells his own story, namely that he is a member of the alternative scene, is a writer and happened to become the DJ of the Foufs

Nirvana arrives in a scruffy mini-van on September 21st and the narrator says that there was no mention of grunge yet because Nirvana was also considered as punk

he says that Kurt had style and everyone wanted to be like him. Nirvana was only known by insider, but Smells like Teen Spirit was playing on the radio more and more often

he tells of an interview where Kurt was in a bad mood and said something like "our music cannot be explained" and "your interview does not work. Piss of "

the narrator says that Kurt was cool but you couldn't get into a conversation with him because he lived in his own world. Kurt was on stage with the narrator during the soundcheck and didn't say a word

In the evening there were about 300 visitors, but today there are thousands who say they were there.

Kurt had barely moved behind the microphone and had something special about himself and seemed to hover above everything. You had the feeling of not listening to an ordinary artist

in the end he climbed up the wall and slapped away the hand of the narrator who wanted to help him. then he dropped onto the drums. and he shouted: Jesus loves you. Dave's head slammed against the brick wall. The audience was outraged.

after the performance the narrator went backstage and found syringes while tidying up. some remembered that Kurt had a stomach ache that evening

the narrator says he knew Kurt had planned the final of the concert and it wasn't improvised. It was like a test run for the next few years

Years later Dave performed there with the Foo Fighters and said he could still remember the wall well

Uzu crushed it at Cabaret Foufs earlier this month. Easily the best post-punk band in Montreal. Had been wanting to play with them for a while and glad it finally happened.
