alrighty friends let me tell you about a book

the book in question? found audio by nj campbell

is it fiction? i think so. but i'm not sure.

it is, give or take, 130 pages or so and the first thought you will have on finishing it will be "what the fuck"

anyway, back story, my high school lit teacher showed up to class one morning in 2017, right after this book came out, and pretty much said "forget class, lemme tell you about this weird book I read," she read us the synopsis and told us we needed to read it

so I went to the library after school and checked out the only copy

and GOOD GOD

this book is SO WEIRD and it's SO GOOD and no book has ever made me feel like I have a gaping hole in my head after finishing it

anyway, you should read this book, finish this book, then sit with your thoughts for a bit, and tell me your thoughts

November 3, 2023:

My recent string of stinkers continues. Honestly I lowkey can't even bother describing this one; it feels like it was unfinished, like I got 1/3 of a book. It's supposed to be a transcription of 4 unbelievably important tapes and oooooh it's suuuuper secret but there's only 3 in the book and they're just a guy telling a story so it's not that unbelievable. There's lots of meta-narrative here, which involves the alleged author falsely publishing this as fiction because the original author disappeared mysteriously, etc etc etc. Baby's first House of Leaves. I think I get what it's trying to say but I'm jaded from how little I've enjoyed the last several books I've read.
