Okay okay okay, only a few episodes in to this podcast (loving it BTW). Just finished Episode 8 and Nyx mentions no one will get their costume and will think they’re “punk rock Frankenstein” but that they’re both podcast characters. NOW please tell me that’s a reference to Diggory Graves from Hello From The Hallowoods cause that’s where my mind immediately went.
Apologies if you have answered this before!
it absolutely is a hallowoods reference!! they got started around the same time as us and i was so obsessed & loving the nonbinary rep!!
hello! was interested in learning more about your audio designer role, but unfortunately the link in your bio appears to be broken (at least for me?) — just wanted to let you know in case this is an issue for anyone else!
Ahh thank you for noticing!! I’ve added the link to the original post instead!! But here as well ☺️
Love queer fantasy and horror? Love audio drama? Good with sound design, or just always wanted to try your hand? Amazing news! We're looking for a sound designer to join our team to continue making our queer fantasy/horror audio drama, The Attic Monologues.
The workload is no more than one episode per month, compensated at £50 per episode as this is a side project, student-led and non-union.
We work with all timezones, and have some incredible folks on the team already, such as Jura Leopold, Alex Abrahams, Alasdair Stuart, and more!
If you're interested, check out our submission doc. Closing date is July 6th!
quick doodle of nyx from @theatticmonologues ! been really enjoying this podcast lately. i'm no big theater guy but the monologues are so absorbing and well written :0
just started listening to this podcast and i love it! would love to make some fanart, but as i am early along, idk if there are canon character appearances and i got curious haha. mind spilling the secrets of what nyx and bella look like? :)
Hello!! So glad you’re enjoying ☺️ I’m actually super careful to not describe the characters in too specific terms as one of my favourite things about podcasts is the lack of visual element 🙈
That being said, I believe these are the things canon so far:
• Nyx has some tattoos and piercings, ‘crazy hair’, & an undercut (which Bella helps shave ofc)
• Bella wears a lot of black, is referred to by some people as goth, & has been known to wear oversized hoodies and hipster glasses on occasion
I do like to imagine that Bella always has really chunky headphones on or around her neck since she’s always listening to podcasts, and I have a tendency to imagine Nyx with space buns and coloured hair, but other than that I have borderline aphantasia so I don’t actually visualise much while writing- so let your imagination run free!!
Episode 49, In Shallows & In Miseries, is out now! We return to our 'sad sea gays', Lionel and Noah, as the former seeks advice from the Caramel & Clove on how to find his husband.
Hello! I'm in a fanfiction/fandom class this semester, and our final project is a research project. I'm doing a sort of demographic overview of the audio drama fandom/community, and if anyone would be willing to take a couple minutes to fill this survey out, that would be greatly appreciated! It's totally anonymous and every question is optional. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or anything like that! Thanks! :D
(Please only fill this out if you're an enjoyer of at least one audio drama. Reblogs are appreciated!)
Hey! I'm doing a research project for a class on the demographics of the audio drama fandom/community with an emphasis on gender identity an
A day in the life of Valentine Wyse, featuring coffee shop trips, messy gay people, and a familiar face... Episode 46, The One Left Behind, out now on your podcatcher of choice!
nice pair of characters who trust each other more than anyone else in the whole entire world it would sure be a shame if one of them betrayed that trust for the sake of trying to keep the other alive. it would sure be a shame to love someone so much you destroy them
Our third-ever Ace Podcast Week (APW) launches tomorrow! This is a casual event celebrating acespec representation and community in the fiction podcasting space.
This year, we've decided to run APW 2025 along the same lines as the Fiction Podcast Zine Festival: no assigned prompts, no schedule besides a start and an end, and no grand expectations.
So, How Do I Join In?
At least once during APW, make something related to fiction podcasts and acespec identity. It's that easy. It doesn't need to be polished, just creating something is more than enough. It could be celebrating acespec characters, themes, creators, or the identity itself, or just whatever feels right to you.
If you're comfortable sharing them, you can tag them with #ace podcast week, or even @ me here at @acepodcastweek. I'll be checking tags daily up until November 1st, and late entries are always welcome.
Some things you might make include:
Polls
Zines
Visual art
Music & playlists
Fanfic
Media analysis
Recommendation lists
Shoutouts or highlighting creators
Poetry
Baking
Cosplay
Sharing headcanons
And whatever else might strike your fancy.
If you need a little extra inspiration, you can also look through all the brilliant entries we had last two years in the #ace podcast week tag, or on this blog.
And if you would like to use prompts, we've got sets from 2023 and 2024 that you can sample from.
Creator Featurettes
Podcast creators and contributors who are acespec or have acespec characters are very welcome to put together little features of their characters and/or projects, which I'll reblog here.
Resources
There are plenty of acespec characters in audio fiction, and I've attached two lists below to get you started:

Questions & Queries
If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or anything else in that realm, get in touch with me here. You can also drop them in the comments, my DMs, or send me an ask. Be aware that I don't always see comments in my notes (wizard curse), so the latter two options will be more reliable. If there's something I can be doing better? Let me know.
A list of asked and anticipated questions from our first APW can be found here, and will be updated as additional questions are asked.
