#Announcement From #OliverGavin of #TeamChevy - I will step away from full-time competition with the #CorvetteRacing program at the end of 2020. I will complete my 18th full-time season with the team at the #Mobil1 #TwelveHoursofSebring in two weeks. To have been with the same team for 19 seasons has been an immense privilege, and I thank from the bottom of my heart each and every person who has shared that journey with me. It’s been an amazing run, and I’ve been very lucky to have been able to drive at such a high level for so long. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved together, especially the #championship #wins and milestone victories at #LeMans, #Daytona and #Sebring, among others. I’m also very proud of the part I played in developing #fourgenerations of #Corvette #race #cars for both #IMSA and at #LeMans, and I look forward to exploring opportunities to represent #Chevrolet and #CorvetteRacing in the future. I’d like to thank my Mum and Dad, Brother Marcus and his family. Most of all I must thank my wife Helen and my three fantastic children, Lily, Isaac and Fergus. They have been my rock throughout all the highs and lows. I’m sure my posts sometimes make motherhood look effortless, and, of course, that’s just because you mostly see the pretty moments, since those are the most fun for me to share. The truth is, motherhood *is* breezier and more effortless than I thought it would be and it’s also more exhausting and intense than I ever imagined — and in different ways than I was expecting. Going out with my little Girly, to the mall, to dinner, to events, and even traveling with her have been surprisingly easier than I’d dreamed they would be. In part it’s because of my comfort with nursing anywhere and with babywearing. To my surprise, neither of these skills actually came easily to me, but I was determined and worked at them, because I knew that once I got them figured out, it would make everything feel less overwhelming and insurmountable. In fact, they make a lot of our outings feel almost... effortless. But even more than that, I owe a lot of the credit to my wonderful “village”. I have the privilege living very near my mother, sister and grandmother. These women adore my daughter just as much as I do and spend so much time with her that she’s as comfortable in their arms as she is in mine. This means that she has the privilege of being cared for regularly by 3 other loving, capable women and that I have the remarkable privilege of being able to eat many of my meals in peace, while someone else gets to feed her and kvell about how much she’s eating. Motherhood certainly ain’t easy, but being surrounded by so much love and support makes it oh so much easier. #fourgenerations #sistergoals #GALAvantingwithmygirly #🤱🏻

Well, I’m new here, and I’m not quite sure where to start.

So here’s a snapshot of where my journey began, and some of the women who set me on my way. There were men too, of course, but those are stories for other times. This post is about us girls, our beginnings, and our heritage. I have more than a few thoughts on all of this, but let me just start at my beginning. So this is me, with my Nanny, my Grandmom, and my Mom. Four generations and counting.

And now for something completely different. Henry was born three years ago today. I barely remember the Time Before. He is using more language, developing his tastes (he loves avacado and pineapple anything), and becoming a real boy. He is magnificent. We got fresh family portraits for the occasion. Let me tell you, I am not a fan of cramped spaces with a lot of people, and I do not regulate my body temperature when I get overwhelmed. We made it through though. And with spectacular results! Behold!
