Letter From the Refuge
I like the song. I like the staging. I have a lot of questions about logic and reason. Why is Specs the one playing carrier pigeon? Why if none of them know where Jack is, does Specs magically know how to get him a letter. And why then, does Specs choose not to share that information with any of the other newsies?
The blocking for the transition is actually fucking beautiful and I wish they did more with it instead of slapping together a bare bones no reason what so ever way to fit the song in. It has such potential...

Davey's speech was bad bad bad. His entire arch is about finding his confidence, and then he pulls a complete 180 and sounds like a terrified kid again. I get what they were going for, but it does not work. Davey found his voice. Let him use it.
Jack's entrance has lost 99.9% of it's impact. I get not every theatre works like the Nederlander, but I hope they use the original stages as much as possible. The significance is too important to ignore.
