YASUO

Fairly enough, this started with @ /astrodart's TDMG comics. The appeal of a quiet, introverted DJ and the snappy girlboss diva dating immediately hooked me. And the more I dug into their characters, the more it made sense. Especially in their base lore.

Both Qiyana and Yasuo were talented from a young age — one with the Axiomata, the other with swordsmanship. This brought on jealousy from their peers, especially as Qiyana surpassed her sisters and Yasuo got into the sword school and quickly made it as Elder Souma's apprentice. Both were arrogant, as seen in Qiyana's VO and lore and young Yasuo in Kin of the Stained Blade.

Where their paths differ is when tragedy strikes. Elder Souma is dead, Yone is dead, Yasuo's arrogance in thinking he could tilt the scale of the battle against the Noxians brought this onto him. He mellows out, gruff but not egocentric, heavy with guilt and alcohol until he meets Taliyah. Yasuo is curt in most interactions (see: Ruined King), but he is still kind and will go out of his way to help people in need.

Qiyana never had a choice before tragedy struck her. From the moment she was born, she was the tenth child. The last heir. The forgotten one. The neglect she endured was bearable due to being told it is so the most powerful in the family can be ready to rule until she found out about her power, when then she snapped and lashed out. From there on out, she became bitter and hungry, earning for the love and attention her parents showed their eldest daughters, and she believes the only way to obtain it is the throne. She craves the attention, the respect, the affection she was denied all her life.

Yasuo could help her heal. He'd pull her away from the grasp of the crown and would find kinship in her, even if at first they clash strongly due to her personally. He has the potential to help her heal. It would be slow but gentle, the soothing of a fire that turns into a tame flame.

DRAVEN

Once more, we have similar pasts. Draven was strong from a young age, shown in his lore with the mention he fought and even killed street rats older than he was. His fearless (and downright stupid) shenanigan got him and his brother into the Noxian army, a place he felt he did not belong due to the strictness of it all and the lack of attention on him. Always Darius, Darius, Darius.

Always Inessa, Inessa, Inessa.

In the shadows of their elder siblings, they can't shine properly unless they turn the spotlight upon themselves. Draven in the arena, Qiyana by standing out as Ixaocan's most powerful mage. But it is not enough for them. They need more.

Their love would be hungry and bloody. Two people raised with violence, so used to it that affection feels wrong without a crash of teeth upon bone.

They would feed each other's narcissism and thirst for ichor dripping from their maws, they would kill for each other, burn a nation for each other. It's a raw feeling, the urge to live within the other's ribcage, the knowledge that no one else will want them the way they do.

Draven would whisper sweet fantasies about revenge in her ear, promise her nothing would make her prettier than the blood of those who hurt her on her skin. And Qiyana would want him to share, to participate, to be part of such a grandiose ritual of graduation.

An anxious monster

              It was just another day on the Boiling Isles: the eyebats were screaming their songs, the rabbilopes were prancing through the blood-red forest’s fields, the ratworms were carefully hunting their next meal. Everything was peaceful and serene, except for the mind of a young basilisk, who didn’t have a name, but had a number – four. Although, that is how he referred to himself – Number Four – so it may be considered a name? None the matter.

              You see, a little more than a week ago, Number Four was able to escape from a place where he was held captive by the Emperors Coven. Why was he held captive? He didn’t know precisely, but by the Emperors Belos’ order, basilisks – creatures long extinct from the Boiling Isles – were revived in laboratories and studied for their peculiar ability to feed on magic. Basilisks hungered for magic and feasted upon the magical energies of others like rabid monsters that, as it was believed, they were. But not all basilisks are mindless predators of magical creatures and witches alike (in Number Four’s opinion – none of the basilisks are mindless) – some of them were able to control their appetite for sorcery, limiting the amount they had to consume to be alive and well. And at least three of these basilisks were able to escape their confinement: numbers Two, Four and Five.

              To escape, the basilisks used another ability, that their kind was known for – shape-shifting. They transformed and played their guards as a fiddle, escaping afterwards through the sewers. For a couple days, the basilisks stayed together, but then they thought, that it would be better to split-up. “If one of us gets caught, the others won’t get dragged along” – was the main reasoning behind this course of action. It felt like a wise decision at the time, and yet – Number Four couldn’t shake the feeling of uneasiness right now. He felt lonely. Anxious. Scared. Yes, of course – he is a basilisk, a creature, whose mere mention scared the witches of old and makes the witches of today to pray to the Titan! But… he didn’t know, what to do. He didn’t have a place in this world and the only ones who might have known how he feels and could have helped him with these feelings he had right now were nowhere near. They might’ve already been found by the Emperors Coven, or got killed like a wild animal, or…

              He wrapped his arms around his head. Too many thoughts. Too many bad thoughts. He had to get some fresh air and something to eat – that was certain. So, the basilisk slithered out of his nest, moving through the dark and damp tunnels of a cave system, that the basilisk found and made his home. Stalagmites of a blueish colour and stalactites of a more greenish hue were all over the place. Clusters of luminescent mushrooms were growing either on the side of these structures or crowned them. They gave out some light to their serpentine neighbour, but Number Four didn’t really need their assistance to navigate through these long underground galleries.

              At last he saw sunlight, carefully creeping in through the caves entrance (or exit?). Number Four felt warm, as the light fell upon his skin of a muddy-orange hue. He stretched out his long body, wiggled his fin-like ears out of joy and picked up a burlap blanket. Wrapping his upper half in the blanket, the basilisk went fourth to a nearby pond: their he could drink some water and find something to eat.

              Of course – a sheet of burlap of an unknown colour isn’t a good disguise for a serpentine creature, but here, in the woods, there weren’t that many prying eyes from which Number Four had to stay hidden. Plus – his only disguise, for the moment, was the disguise of a witch from the Emperor’s Coven, and if anybody saw an Emperor Covens’ witch in the forest without any reason, it could give way to suspicions. Number Four didn’t want that. Nor did he want to use the magic he had accumulated as of that moment to change his appearance with no apparent reason.

              But, alas, a reason to do just that, presented itself not too far in the future.

Another Kiss Prompt an angry kiss  ═══MODERN VERSE═══

"Hhhnn…" The world was a visual kaleidoscope and an auditory nightmare as the whites and grays of the hospital ceiling slowly came into focus. Nausea settles in his stomach and a shot of agonizing pain stabs through his side that nearly rips him from the mattress before he feels the comforting numb of morphine drop into his veins. Robin's tired eyes roll lazily over to see Jhin sitting beside him, who had expertly flicked the morphine drip on, and their eyes meet. There is little question to how Robin is feeling in this moment, silence between them both besides the rhythmic beeping of the machine that is hooked to his chest. He goes to speak before feeling a gentle finger meet his lips, he knows this is Jhin telling him to conserve his energy, but one question plagues him,

"Did….did you hit the mark…?"

"…No, I didn't."

"What? Why---why not?"

Robin's eyes grow wide and he begins to push himself up, worry scratches over his expression, quickly swiped away by pain. He holds himself up while shaking, unable to quell the oncoming bout of nausea as he stares into those maroon pools. Somehow the words that come next don't surprise him, and yet they spark a fire inside of him so fierce that he fears without gritting his teeth tight, the hospital room would catch ablaze.

"I had to save you."

He is quick to rip his hand away from his lover, ferocity striking within the green of his iris, turning lush pastures into a hellscape ready to lash and tear into the assassin. His knuckles lose all color as he sucks in a shaky, assailing breath, ripping his stare away from Jhin while attempting to force the onslaught of horror from his mind. The mission failed, and now--now he would have to deal with the explosive aftermath, the shrapnel of which would be enough to rip every bit of him apart unless he was swift to pluck all of it out. But how was he supposed to do that while stuck in a hospital bed?! How was he supposed to fix this!? Robin seemed to be replaced by an injured, frightened, possibly rabid animal as Jhin reaches back towards him, an audible SLAP forcing his hand away, and Robin gives him a look reserved only for traitors along with enemies. His voice croaking with misery,

"I didn't NEED you to save me, I-I needed you to take out THE DAMN TARGET! I KNEW the consequences of going into this mission-- do--do you have any idea of how much this FUCKS us?" His fingers press into his temple in a desperate attempt to stop the throbbing, his pitch raising, "You should have left me to die, and done your damn JOB!"

Air felt thick and painful to breathe as he feels angry tears beginning to fall from his cheeks, despair grips him like a vice, the only respite he could find was covering his face, burying away from Jhin as he wheezes. His heart clenches as he comes to grips with the metaphorical noose tighten around his neck, exasperated breaths that threatened to reveal the underlying cause of so much aggression; fear. Pure primal fear of failure, the consequence for both of them with what could possibly come next. He had been witness to such acts before, he had carried out those actions against the members of the group unable to fulfill their tasks and ultimately caused more mayhem for Miss Evelynn. Impending doom seemed to peek just over the horizon and Robin met his gaze once more, although now the brutality had been replaced with distress and discomfort, a frightened beast.

He had found himself in a situation he wasn't immediately prepared to cope with, a hammer to the camel's already withered spine. A break that culminated into an outburst riddled with terror, panic, and alarm.

"Please…God, fuck--"

And…the fall.

Robin hangs his head slowly, sniffling while he tries to hide his contorted expression, and this time, he does not pull away when Jhin's hand touches his own. Bloodshot eyes shut as the violent cresendo of the evening came to a close, ending with nothing but a whimper as his chin was eventually lifted with a delicate, loving caresss. He knows, in that moment, given the situation…he would have done the same thing. He would have thrown away the world for Jhin, if only to watch him continue to breathe, to hold his hand, to have just one more morning next to him. His scarred lips tremble with hesitation, unsure of what to say before the words escape him before he can grasp them, "…I don't know what to do. I…I'm so sorry, Khada--I-I'm…"

He can't look at him while he speaks, eyes dipping downward to watch the way Jhin's fingers draw circles across his knuckles, and then, at last, Robin's arms wrap around him, and he feels the embrace returned. He still shakes in those strong arms, but when his head is cupped, a certain weakness returns to his heart. The sweet smell of cologne and gunpowder fills his lungs while he comes down even further from the edge of cataclysm. He doesn't deny the thought that stirs in his mind, that this was expected, the anger, the explosion along the subsequent fallout that would eventually lead him to melt back into Jhin's arms. For Robin to recognize that this was now a shared issue to tackle together, and that he would not be alone in fixing it, not as he had been so many times before.

He is timid in how his temple brushes Jhin's, how he finally turns his head and lets his lips press against dark hair while his fingers curl into the fabric of his shirt. Robin feels the room swirl once more as, unhurriedly, he is laid back down with such a gentle touch. The wound in his side throbs, and he relaxes entirely when soft lips meet his forehead, the bridge of his nose, and finally his mouth. And so, he ends where he began, laying quietly with Jhin by his side, holding his hand as exhaustion flutters his lids shut.

Although, now, his fingers keep their hold.

Not the first time Qiyana felt out of place.

Just the day before, she had never gone further than the treeline of Ixtal. Never done more than peek at the blindingly white sand of the beach and the shadows of the Serpentine Delta on the water.

A rainbow of colors on the shore brought her gaze toward the sea glass clattering gently with every wave. Her feet kicked the water from where she sat at the edge of the dock, a silent and tense figure amidst the end of the day activity of sailors getting back in their ships to travel to Piltover, Bilgewater, and Noxus, of people trying to sell the last of their fruits and trinkets, of children playing while their parents called from them.

She was unreactive to everything until a voice brought her out of her stupor, startling her momentarily and tearing through the songs of the Axiomata. Raising her head, Qiyana looked up at the stranger with uncertainty in her golden eyes. That one had an odd melody about them and an accent she could not place.

Still, if she was to leave that place and return stronger, she needed to make allies where possible. Practicing by making small talk with someone did not seem like such a bad idea.

"No. Not at all."

Qiyana moved to the side to make space for him to sit if desired. There was no attempt to hide her staring at his garments and builds, a dark brow furrowing ever so slightly.

"You are not from Ixtal, are you?"

The pearlescent morning light that drips through the velvet shades upon their window is just enough brilliance from the outside so that Robin can see the curve of Jhin's waist within the shadows of the room. He adjusts on his stomach with his arms folded underneath the pillow which his head lays upon, silken and soft.

"Good morning," he says softly, closing his eyes once more as he waits for Jhin's response, "Mmm...Have I ever told you, that your voice reminds me of the rumbling rivers of Ionia..? I could listen to you talk all day, and never tire... Indulge me?"

((tbh I never thought I'd be asked anything about this ever but jhfuigshihrli thank you!!! I have a lot of thoughts. I actually LOVE these because I made Robin with no intention of shipping him and all of these sort of cropped up randomly LOL

EVELYNN-- this is heavily based off of Robin's interactions with @agonizedembrace! These two have such palpable chemistry, between their mutual curiosity of the other and strange protectiveness its just--very sweet??? Haha! I'm sure if I ship them romantically in canon verse but moreso as a squish relationship that's just...aaaa cute! I also REALLY love their SB verse interactions and think it would lead into something very sweet; and can definitely see it dipping into something much more romantic. I love these two bonding through their shared loneliness.

KHADA JHIN-- Sadly, the person who I was chatting about this with deactviated BUT they put so many ideas in my head. The mutual love of art is something that I can see these two bonding over. Robin falls into the "I will always take your ideas seriously" to the people he speaks to--regardless of how outrageous it may seem. I like to think that this would lead to Jhin being able to just chat someone's ear off about his next creation and Robin actually responding enthusiastically? He loves art and music, and would be very pleased to listen to Jhin's ideas.

CAITLYN-- BLAME @piltover-sharpshooter!!! Caitlyn benefitting from being able to speak to a Zaunite who played around in the Underbelly and actually got very far before his death and Robin gets to test her adaptability? Robin, currently, may be out of the Underbelly, but he's one little push from going back and the chemistry between these two is really palpable. An intense chess game thats ultimately based in respect as well as comradery? Robin has plenty of information to offer--he just will dangle it until Caitlyn asks the right questions. It's just...UGH--Its a VERY fun dichotomy.
