His foot catches on the lip as he tips himself over, and he tumbles ass over teakettle into a sprawl on the concrete, groaning as his aching back protests the collision. Ow… Everything hurts, but somehow more. The voice continues, carefully picking around the words like he’s eaten a dictionary. “Are you in need of assistance?” Probably. “No,” Clint replies out loud, swallowing the painful whine that threatens to eke out of his throat. OR: Clint's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad 3:00 AM excursion in Jersey.

All at once, the MacGuffin is ripped from Peter’s hand as the cult leader’s web cocoon bursts, sticking to everything and anything across the alley. She leaps for him, propelling herself forward with a blast of air that flutters her robes, trailing spindly remnants of web behind her. He dodges, obviously, but it gives Bird Boy a chance to take off with the MacGuffin. “Rude,” Peter calls over his shoulder as he launches himself upward to get back to higher ground. “You could have asked nicely, you know. We’re on the same side.” A small pause as the leader blasts him with air so hard he smashes into the wall with a grunt, before he can cough out a rasping addition of, “I think. Probably.” Much quieter, and almost sardonic, Bird Boy replies, “I appreciate the distraction, Spider, but I’ve got it from here, thanks.” OR: Peter just wanted to enjoy a quiet patrol in peace (with a free empanada! Score!), but instead he’s stuck with zappy, evil magic, some kind of multiversal cult, and a possibly-concussed, possibly time-traveling, rookie caught up in a weird vigilante-pissing-contest that leaves him with more questions than answers.
