When humanity falls to a new strain of cancer, the only chance for survival is turning to controversial sciences. After cloning fails and the world is dwindling in numbers, mankind discovers the answer in fusing genetics to mutate out the deadly cancer strain. This discovery not only saves what little is left of humanity but dooms it to a cruel reality of social inequality that yields no hope of ever changing.

Pidge learns of the injustice first hand when she's captured during her search for her missing father and brother, turned into a hybrid and set to be sold as a slave. She has failed, and gloomily accepts her fate to a life of misery until she happens to meet another hybrid who breaks into the same facility to save his sister.

She isn't certain she can trust him, but what other choice does she have in this new and terrifying world she's thrust into where she's treated as nothing more than an animal?

More Bunny! Shiro and Fox! Lance

Fox!Lance loves trying to sneak behind Shiro and surprise tackle him despite their height difference.

But Shiro being a bunny, his long black and white ears can hear pretty much Lance stifled giggling and slow foot steps.

As Lance leaps to jump on Shiro, his boyfriend is very much capable of catching him and turning the tables on him.

He wraps his arms around Lance, trapping him in a hug and covering his face with kisses.

"How's my foxy darling? You're being naughty... Trying to get the jump on me."

"Can't help myself, bun... It's in my nature."

Have I mentioned that the ZootAU has angst? Because it has lots of angst. This is a future scene that I think is going to occur a lot sooner than I originally planned, probably within a few chapters. I have such a soft spot for Lance caring so deeply for Pidge as she falls apart in this AU. 

Also fun fact, foxes wrap their tails around their mates so you know I have to draw Lance constantly wrapping his tail around Pidge :3

In between all my ANGST projects of late I needed some fluff, both figurative and literal. I’ve been wanting to draw rabbit!Pidge and fox!Lance snuggling for a while now and I figured to try chibi designs for ultimate cuteness. I still plan to draw a normal version but it’ll probably be a lot more angsty knowing the AU. And then there’s the other bedroom scene I need to draw out... if any of you have seen Beastars you’ll know what I’m talking about. I now notice that Lance and Pidge are nearly spot on for the colors of Nick and Judy’s clothes... and that was totally unintentional lol. I was originally making Pidge’s shirt green and decided to switch things up. Good job subconscious.
