Aw, piss off you lot.
fox-of-the-wastes
When Fox heard the elevator ding he smiled and was happy to be greeted by his friend. However, he had to turn away to cough some more and groan in protest. “I think, I am beginning to get radiation sickness…I may be a ghoul, but not all the way so I am still going through the effects of it.” Tired and wary he struggled to stand up. “I went out to find more parts, the one you were looking for to fix some of the computers up in the Penthouse? I found some, buuut.” He took a break to cough, he pulled out some water to help clear and soothe his throat. "But they were in some irradiated factory, I thought that I would walk in and walk out, but I ran into trouble. Make a note for me that there are very hostile ferals in the Towne center building just outside Camp Searchlight, people need to be warned…" He pulled out the parts he salvaged and held them out, "A new screen, some lights, wires, a couple of different motherboards and a bunch that I don’t know what do, but they came out of the computers there!" He said trying to laugh but coughed instead. "Actually…I think I should lay down…or something. Is it cold in here?" He said, his face a bit pale and pink around the cheeks and his forehead. The radiation had added to his own, however, it’s effects were of that of a really bad flu and fever.
The expression on Yes Man's screen flickered a few times before he took a quick step over. The robot bent just slightly to look Fox over, his expression growing increasingly confused and concerned as his friend began pulling parts out of his bag. Yes Man finally spoke up a moment later, as he moved the pile of parts out the way with his foot before kneeling down to the courier's level.
"Fox, not that I'm not excited to take a look at all this stuff later, we've got a bigger problem! We need to get you into bed with some Rad-Away to try and help with these symptoms as soon as possible, if you would!" Yes Man was simply concerned for the welfare of his friend, his pixelated mouth pressing into a line as he felt Fox's forehead with the back of his hand. His frown only grew.
"I'm afraid not-- the casino is still at it's usual seventy-eight degrees in here. But unless I'm reading this incorrectly, you, on the other hand, are burning up! We should really be getting you upstairs, let the Securitrons worry about that stuff." Yes Man offered a hand, sure that Fox had enough of a time getting to the casino in the first place in that condition. Guilt undeniably itched at him, somewhere in his wiring, as he moved to help Fox stand.
"I'm really sorry, Fox. It's all my fault that you're sick! In fact, if it weren't you, I'd be amazed how somebody got back like this in the first place! I swear that I feel bad about it. I should really hire some scavengers next time, instead of sending you out on such a measly little job."
Fox walked into the Lucky Thirty-Eight coughing and sputtering. He groaned as he let his bag slump onto the ground. "Finally...home..." a sigh escaped him as he slumped onto the few steps leading down to the main hall. He looked up and saw the two bouncer Securitrons looking down at him, processing if he needed help. Fox coughed some more and grabbed at his throat grimacing at how painful it was. "I-is Yes Man home?" He asked the two guards, they turned to each other, buzzing and beeping.
Yes Man had been tinkering somewhere in the mainframe when Fox stepped onto the Strip. Thanks to his near constant vigilance of the Strip through every single Securitron and camera on the network, he noticed his friend was home before Fox had even set foot in the casino.
Quickly finishing up what was left of his work, Yes Man severed his direct connection with the mainframe before hopping into the body he now typically inhabited. His tie was fixed and Yes Man himself was in the main elevator and heading down to the casino as Fox walked in. When the doors open, Yes Man is quick to greet him.
"Welcome home, Fox! Boy were things busy while you were away. You should have seen—" Yes Man immediately trailed off in his excited chatter. His monitor tilted as the expression on its screen flickered. "Wait— Is something the matter? You don’t look so good…” He sounded both cautious and concerned.
fox-of-the-wastes:
"But you are! You have helped me in lots of ways. I mean it as a complement! Yes Man, don’t you know what a complement is?" He laughed before mentally smacking himself. "I’m sorry Yes Man… Really you are an amazing guy, I don’t see you as some controlled robot, to me you are an equal! Ugh…You." Fox stuttered trying to find the right words.
Yes Man carefully tapped his pincers together, his programming carefully picking apart his stalled words. "No apology necessary, Fox! I understand completely!" He too struggled to find the words to explain his reaction. "I'm grateful for you thinking that-- I really am! I mean, not a lot of people would even begin to think about someone like me that way. It's just... I guess I just didn't know how to react to that! I'm sorry if I didn't come across as very grateful! I swear I'll try to be more amazing."
The real reason for the Securitron's confusion lied behind how he felt about what he perceived as an order from Fox. Being told to feel something contradictory to what Yes Man actually felt about himself didn't really make the feeling go away-- it just made him act as if it had.
"Yes Man. I command you to realize that you are an amazing guy!"
"An amazing guy, huh? Sure, Fox! I am an amazing guy! You’re the one who said so, after all! So even though I thought I wasn’t a real guy in the first place, I guess it must be true! Yeah! I’ll be sure to remember that!”

I found a child today. Or HE found ME, as it were! The poor thing was in quite the pinch when we (haha) ran into each other, but things turned out a-ok once I had intervened. I thought that his parents must have been worried sick about him, considering how scared and dirty he was, but it turns out that he doesn’t have a home OR folks waiting for him. How awful is that, right? It’s not like I could turn him away and onto the dirty, dangerous streets again, right?
So, after some cartoons and dinner, I decided that it’s only polite to let Fox (that’s what he said his name was, at least) borrow my bed tonight, while I take the sofa. I’ll just have to figure something out tomorrow! After all, it’s not like he can stay HERE for any length of time. I’m just not CUT OUT to take care of children!

Have you ever told yourself that you were going to do something that day and then COMPLETELY forget about it the next? Maybe I should start writing this stuff down!
Tomorrow sure sounds like a good day to start! Yeah, tomorrow. Sounds like a plan!
fox-of-the-wastes:
Fox blinked and then he felt his heart skip a beat. “Do these things come off?!” He panicked a bit like a child with a paper cut. The pinching pain from the broken Pip Boy only worsened with him flailing around.
Suddenly Yes Man didn't think that his joke was very funny anymore. He tried to wave his hands reassuringly to stop Fox from flailing his limbs and injuring himself further.
"I'm sorry, Fox! I probably should have kept that to myself! Just-- hey, I'm sure you'll be a-ok once we figure this out! There's got to be some way to get it off in an emergency. Maybe I can help! Do you have any tools on you? If not I bet that mechanic friend of yours has some lying around somewhere!"
Fox was cursing himself as he fiddled with his pipboy. It was cracked and busted open. He felt awful about it and was trying to get it off his arm to fix it. "Stuuuupid thing!!" He grunted trying to pry it off.
"What do you have there, Fox?" Yes Man tried to get a look over his friend’s shoulder to see just what was going on. "Sounds like you’re having some trouble, if I’m allowed to say so!"
