So my ankle has healed enough now that I can stand and walk (limp) unaided it's finally time to frame Peppa since my niece's birthday is in a couple weeks.
Now I'm not made of money especially at the moment while I'm off work so when doing my own framing I prefer to use things I already have laying around the house which I've been doing for the last decade and works just as well as using more expensive materials for those working on a budget.
First Step of Framing is WASHING, i usually use a glass bowl to wash my finished patterns in but that's currently full of my homemade tomato sauce as we had pizza last night so today i have a clean pan instead.
First we give her a little soak in the lukewarm water
Then we give her a wash with some unscented sensitive handsoap (you can buy proper washing stuff for cross stitches but i find that this works just as good and is something i already have at home) before rinsing her under the cold tap until all the suds have disappeared
Then finally we put her on a towel, fold the towel in half and thump her a bit until she's just damp and then leave her inside the folded towel until she's dry and still free of dust.
This is specifically my towel only for drying cross stitches that way I know its always clean and free of dust and oils.
Then once she's dry we get to do the next steps of IRONING before actually getting down to the framing.
