Nearly a year of (very intermittent) work later and this Solas piece using a pattern from @maythedreadwolftakeyou is finally done!

#pattern was excellent and I learned a lot about my own issues with stitch tension lol #but I'm going to do an easy project now before I try to tackle the Solas hermit pattern lol #Solas #dragon age #Fran crafts #I've also learned that metallic thread is my nemesis #but ALAS. shiny.

Put off finishing this for over half a year because I feared (correctly) that the background was going to be a pain 🫠

Crafting to stave off The Despair

#fran crafts #i mean ok maybe the subject matter just makes despair worse bc it is PINING #but i didnt think of that when i got the kit months ago #and it's part of a series on embroidering famous paintings #ngl i am not a fan of embroidering on felt. i prefer thicker weightier fabric #and the kit came with non dmc thread #which fine but you can TELL the difference and it doesnt sit as nice #for the rest of the series I'll probs just buy the user pdf guides #rather than the full kit #and supply my own materials #theres a few van gogh ones. a monet. largely impressionist works #but a few others too

Let's ignore the fact that I fucked up the edges in MARKER lmao it's FINE I will cover it up with a slightly too large border, this is what I get for not printing the vectors like a fool

I am STILL really fuckin mad about yesterday and my brother and tbh my whole family and I'm ALSO disappointed that bro 3 seems to be turning into a shithead as well...like...thats my baby boy I RAISED HIM (sort of)

So. If I have to be fuckin mad. I'm gonna go work on this fuckin new embroidery project that is killing me. It's the Solas piece. The pattern I bought is so gorgeous. My printer is the devil and Im not dishing out for a fabric printer so I am doing the multistep hell dance of trace the vector from my laptop to tracing paper, use my seasonal affective disorder lamp light a Lightbox to try and transfer form the tracing paper to the (dark ;-;) fabric with water soluble pencil, and then correct all the tracing fuck ups with fine tipped marker, hoping I don't fuck it up even MORE

This is.... I love embroidering. Transferring patterns to fabric as someone without the artistic skills to freehand anything but the most basic of patterns?? Hell on earth
