ActivisionBlizzard is a horrible company as the recent lawsuits (plural) showcase but one interesting tidbit is that in March of this year they hired Frances Townsend to be executive vice president for corporate affairs, corporate secretary, and chief compliance officer so she is one of the main executives over there and it is odd for her to be working at a video game company considering she has no prior history of being involved in the industry.

Fran Townsend was former Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush. She played a key role in covering up torture at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. She visited the prison site and claimed not to have seen anything wrong there.

However later when more evidence came forward that there was inhumane torture being done to prisoners there she defended the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” and that federal agents should be free from public scrutiny.

It’s hard to see a corporation as anything but evil when aside from overseeing years of abuse they hire former government employees who aided in war crimes. Townsend isn’t even the only one at the company.

Well see you're a journalist [Fran Townsend], so your supposed to understand better than anybody that publishing classified information about what governments are doing is not actually a crime. Every day media outlets like the New York Times and the Washington Post and CNN publish government secrets. They publish too secrets in fact. The NYT exposed the Bush administration's too secret eavesdropping programme, the CIA blacksight programme. Wikileaks has never exposed top secrets... And in the US - and against journalists should know this better than anybody and should hope that it's true - it's not a crime to publish classified information.

Publishing classified information is what journalists do and I can't believe that anyone in the field of journalism such as yourself [Fran Townsend] would say that he should go to prison for doing what reporters are supposed to do which is to inform the public about what the government is doing.

...Fran Townsend, on CNN, hailed the Supreme Court's decision in Humanitarian Law -- the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the DOJ's view that one can be guilty of "material support for terrorism" simply by talking to or advocating for a Terrorist group -- and enthusiastically agreed when Wolf Blitzer said, while interviewing her: "If you're thinking about even voicing support for a terrorist group, don't do it because the government can come down hard on you and the Supreme Court said the government has every right to do so." Yet "voicing support for a terrorist group" is exactly what Townsend is now doing -- and it makes her a criminal under the very Supreme Court ruling that she so gleefully praised.
