A VERY QUICK ANIMATIC for the Marriage prompt of Frankenvember

Finished my fic for day one of Frankenvember! This one is for the prompt 'bloodied hands'

Victor is exhausted in the middle of the Creature's creation. 'Exhaustion and stubbornness do not make for the best combination, but Victor Frankenstein has both in spades, and if that’s what he’s got to work with – well then, he’ll use the latter to force his way through the former. The ache that permeates every part of his body demands that he rest, but he’s close, so close.'

His shaking hands slip, and he nearly drops his scalpel. Although he does not mutter a word that his father would be disappointed to know he knew, he comes alarmingly close to doing so. Not that it matters – he's alone here, thank goodness. If anyone saw him like this –

This time he really does drop the scalpel. Really does say that word as the blade slices into his icy hands, numb enough that he barely notices the pain.

In the grey of late-autumn, tinted by the fog outside the building and in Victor's own mind, the blood on his hands stands out scarlet. Everything else seems monochrome in comparison.

It doesn't occur to him to wipe the blood away; all that matters is that he finishes this. He simply leans over to pick it up once more. Back to work, though his hands are bloodied.
