in his youth, the sickly Lord Aurelius Iuvenalis of the country of Melrahel was appointed a young boy his age to be his companion til death - Everett Althorn, the son of a knight in the service of Aurelius's father. by blood oath the two were bound forevermore. Aurelius was not expected to live long; only 20 years of indentured servitude was a simple sentence for an elf, after all.

the two grew up together, sharing meals, tutoring lessons; sharing nearly every moment with each other, rarely seen alone. as Aurelius' health deteriorated in his early 20s, he turned to desperate measures in the throes of sickness, and evoked the help of a dark, magical force in order to cure his illness and live far longer than any physician had ever predicted. and so the only heir to Melrahel rose again, but with a cure came immense consequences.

through his newfound health and power came newfound gluttony, unyielding and all-consuming, that fueled his rise to the throne. Melrahel prospered in those early years of his rule, but few attributed its success to the new lord's companion Everett. fewer still noticed the effect his presence brought to Aurelius. no one knew him better - and arguably, no one knew how to run Melrahel better, either. as Aurelius continued his path of incessant hedonism, Everett did more for both him and the country; became smarter, grew in power himself.

as many wives came and went, no luck for an heir, Everett stayed. as the courts came and went and fewer graced the inside of the castle's cold walls, as Aurelius dwindled into a hermit's solitude, Everett stayed.

his advisor. his companion. his dearest friend. his - no, there are some things that shan't be discussed within the court, no matter how obvious they may be.

I’ve seen a lot of people doing artist improvement memes so I thought I’d do one myself! So here we go, rightmost pics are the first pictures I ever drew of Kavi and Feray in november of 2016!! I’m honestly so proud of both how much I’ve improved, but also how much these characters have grown and become so important to me. I love em both so much ;___; 💕

oh btw speaking of ocs. here’s some art I made last night — the young lord aurelius iuvenalis, heir of melrahel, many many a year ago

so these two are very old ocs of mine (i think i was 11 or something when I made these dudes so, woo, a whole decade babey!) but I finally drew them after all these years!! hmmm oc dump incoming

they’re both brothers, sons of a powerful demon lord who tried to assimilate into the more human-centric society. Heir was the eldest and naturally was trained by his father to uphold a lot of the values that their family had grown up with. later on, after their father’s death, he realized how much he’d been hurt and decided to let go of his position as the new lord. he clipped his wings and filed down his horns to try and blend in more with this new society they’d both found themselves in, and became a librarian and historian !

Jester on the other hand was the favorite-child and as such was trained by his father in combat from a young age, so when they travelled to the human society he found himself a job in gladiatorial combat! he’s really proud of his heritage and it gives him a pretty steady tactical advantage in his line of work. while heir was ostracized for his demonic background, jester really thrived from the same thing & it definitely affects them both

also they’re both very distinctly different flavors of gay. id describe heir as gently bisexual with a preference for men, while jester is attracted to anyone who can kick his ass. jester IS single but only because he keeps forgetting to pay attention to his short-term boyfriends

in honor of finally starting writing my first novel, pirate story (a story collab between me and the magnificent @ooyabu ), I figured I might as well post pics of some of our main characters!! meet captain Kadell and captain Gwynn, and our three main kids, Kenneret, Clove, and Fen! expect more art soon, pirate story is gonna be taking over my life for the next month at least ✌️✨
