You want to know something, Leslie? If I live to be ninety, I will never figure you out.
Giant, George Stevens (1956)
Pass the Gravy
Giant (1956). Sprawling epic covering the life of a Texas cattle rancher and his family and associates.
This film has honestly got some of the best cinematic framing I think I’ve ever seen. It’s so, so engaging visually. The story is solid too, with strong performances and a compelling, sprawling feel to it. My biggest issue with it is actually the length. It’s almost three and a half hours, and man, if it doesn’t feel it. A bit of tightening could’ve gone a long way to making this good film exceptional. 7.5/10.
