The New Hoodoo
September 1, 1906
With the devil of Public Ownership dogging William Jennings Bryan's heels, the Free Silver imp shrugs and stands aside. Bryan is reading a newspaper that says “All about Bryan’s reception - Bryan moved to tears.”
The caption reads “The Free Silver Nemesis - Well, at last I can take a vacation.’“
Bryan had abandoned his Free Silver ideas, but had taken up the call for public ownership of utilities and transit, another controversial proposal.
