This might be late post because i know so many people started their college semester early but if anyone needs a free pdf of Beginning Drawing: A multidimensional approach to learning the art of basic drawing by Alain Picard I currently have access to one. Pls message or comment if you need it!!

Has anyone figured out a way around having to pay a ridiculous amount (like $300!) just to RENT an e-textbook? I have to do this for a finance class I'm taking this semester. I would look at my school's library, but the problem is the rental subscription also pays for access to the homework assignments we need to submit for class so I'm not seeing an easy way around this. It doesn't look like the textbook publisher offers a separate homework only subscription either :( I can't afford this.

My textbook hack in college was to go to the library. The college library had all the textbooks on hold and you could take them out for two hours at a time if you didn't leave the library. If someone else was using the book I needed, I walked over to a city library branch to get the book. It meant I spent a lot of time in libraries, but it saved me thousands over the four years of my undergrad.

Libraries are free to use (well, you pay for public libraries with your taxes, and the college library with your tuition) and great places to study and do homework.

So check the college library first. Anyone else have ideas for cheap/free textbooks?

So excited to be starting the 100 Days of Productivity challenge for the Spring semester! I’m already planning to be super on top of my assignments since I graduate soon, and am really excited for my classes. I also found a GREAT website for free textbooks: http://gen.lib.rus.ec/

Just search the name of the textbook you are looking for, click on the name to go to a page with more info, click on the title of the book again, and then click ‘GET’ to download the PDF version of the textbook! 

I was able to find a ton of books on here so I highly recommend checking this website before making a purchase! Also, please let me know if it ends up working for you. I would love to hear that it is working for other people and that the word is getting around :)

in honor of my return to university and inevitable poverty, here is a list of textbooks resources that is not outdated, nor a mess. i sorted  and annotated the links, just for you. you’re welcome.

resources marked with an asterisk are links i actually recommend. especially among the free ebooks.... straight up, just use your library instead. i am giving you these resources, but i personally would trust few of them.

in short, i recommend a) googling the title + PDF. do this even if you have a book so you can use command+F to quickly find anything b) buy used c) google the title + chapter for blog posts, notes, and more.
