Free As The Wind || yukionnamonet & waywardswordsman
The Thousand Sunny, in all its eccentric glory, was alive with unusual excitement. While the passengers aboard this engineering marvel were typically up to things that made the feats of normal men seem mundane, there was something so thrilling occurring that everyone was crowded around, babbling wildly.
Everyone, except of course, the Strawhats' resident swordsman.
Rousing from his solitude, and that glorious corner where no one bothered him while he napped, Zoro almost retreated to the crow's nest. But upon spying an unfamiliar person among his pirate brethren, he decided to investigate. Somewhere in that thick skull of his, Zoro prayed that he wouldn't be noticed, but after coming within steps of the group, he caught the eyes of his captain and became the subject of their enthusiasm.
"Zo-ro!"
He was a swordsman - not a mind reader, but by the bounce in the other man's voice he knew exactly what would happen next. With a loud zip and a fling, the hulking man found himself temporarily airborne as a rubber arm quite literally drug him into the occasion. A moment later, he was face first on the lawn.
"God damn it, Luffy," Zoro muttered into the sod. One would have thought he would have learned to land properly from such slings by now, but nevertheless, he was working on it. As he grumpily stood, adjusting the katana at his hip, Luffy proudly proclaimed what he was so eager for Zoro to know.
"We have a new member of the crew!" The captain sang, "her name is Monet and she has green hair, just like you!"
Settling his opened eye on the woman in question, he immediately noticed she shared his unusual coloring, but was distracted by the shit cook who had taken upon himself to welcome Monet just like he did every other attractive woman he saw.
Standing dully as Sanji offered her praises and promised her a meal like she had never before tasted, he and the rest of the crew began making their way to the mess hall in preparation for the evening meal. For a moment, he was alone with this woman named Monet. He didn't have to speak to her, and normally he wouldn't have, but this being the first time Luffy had brought someone into the crew he hadn't before encountered did inspire a little more than normal curiosity. There was plenty he could tell about a person when meeting their eyes and hearing the way they delivered their voice. With broad shoulders held firm, the swordmaster spoke deep and gruffly as he usually did.
"The cook usually prepares a decent meal." Zoro told her, commenting on the other man's overbearing behavior. "But I can't really say anything else good about him."
