You and Niall have been dating for a few months now and have practically been spending every waking second of the day together that you can. When Niall’s home that is.
Dating a popstar can be extremely tough, especially when they are gone for long periods of time, but this was Niall’s offseason, so you were making the most of it.
You know you loved Niall. You loved him after your first date when he said he’s never felt a connection with anyone else that he did with you. And you didn’t just love him because he was Niall James Horan, the international superstar. You love him because he was Niall James Horan, the man who would do anything for you and accepts all of your flaws.
The only problem is, you haven’t told each other you loved each other yet. You didn’t want to scare him off, like your last relationship. You gave yourself completely to your last boyfriend and he broke your heart when he didn’t feel the same way.
You don’t know how Niall felt, but you were pretty sure he loved you. You were his first non-famous girlfriend in a really long time and he treated you like a princess, treated you like he loved you.
You happened to be staying over Niall’s place like you had for most of your relationship, and he was planning to go live on Instagram in a few minutes. Niall started strumming his guitar and warming up his voice.
“Are you gonna be shirtless for the live?” you ask.
“Yeah. I’m too lazy to put on a shirt. Haha,” he replied.
“Your fans are gonna love that, haha,” you retort back.
“Yeah, but all that matters is that you do,” he smiled back.
There is was again. Him hinting towards you loving parts about him while not saying he loved you directly.
“Babe, are you sure you don’t wanna be on the live? You can read the questions while I sing. Plus, the fans would go crazy,” he said, picking up his guitar.
“I’m ok, Niall. You know I’m camera shy. Plus, I’m gonna make dinner anyway,” you said, heading into the kitchen.
“Ok (Y/N). I’ll miss you,” he smiled back, giving you an air kiss.
“Miss you more,” you replied catching his kiss.
As you headed into the kitchen, you heard Niall starting the Instagram live. “Hi guys. Niall here. I’m gonna play you some tunes today and then I’ll answer some questions. Start sending in your requests now,” Niall said as he plopped down on the bed.
As you were making dinner, you were listening to Niall sing. His voice was one of your favorite things in the world and made you swoon every time.
You heard Niall speak pretty clearly in the other room. “Alright, guys. This will be the last song of the night. Then I’ll take some questions.”

You heard the lyrics to Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” and it automatically made you smile. “Free Fallin’” was a song Niall would play a lot when he was warming up or bored around the house, but you didn’t realize today how much he emphasized the last line ‘Loves horses and her boyfriend too, yeah yeah.” It’s like how yelled it so you would hear it.
So, he did love you and was giving you a hint to say it. You did love your boyfriend and you were going to tell him tonight.
You finally finished making dinner. You made Niall’s favorite meal because frankly, that’s all he had in his fridge. You heard Niall end the live and come out of the bedroom.
“Hey, babe. Dinner’s ready! How was the live?” you ask as he approaches the kitchen and wraps his arms around you.
“The live was good, but it would have been better with you. That smells amazing babe,” he said, as he kissed your neck.
“Well, dig in Ni,” you said, handing him a plate.
You both go and sit down to eat your dinner at his kitchen table.
About halfway through the meal, you finally get the courage up and decide you are going to tell him you love him right now.
“Hey Niall,” you said, reaching over to grab his hand.
“Yes (Y/N)?” he looked up from his plate with a smile.
“Umm... well...” you hesitate.
“Babe, wat’s wrong?” Niall asked.
“Phew. Ok. Elvis is great and all and I do like horses.... but mostly...um... I do love my boyfriend,” you said. “I love you, Niall,” you finally got out.
Niall took a deep breath and smiled so big. It’s like he was letting go of a breath he’s been holding in for a while. All of a sudden, you saw tears form in his eyes as he got up out of his seat and squatted right in front of you.
“I love you so much (Y/N). I have from the moment I met ya and I always will,” he said, as he leaned over to kiss you.
You smiled as he was kissing you and have never felt happier than you did at that moment. The man of your dreams loved you and you loved him back and you finally said it.
“I’m sorry it took so long for me to say it, Niall,” you said, wrapping your arms around his neck.
“Babe, it’s ok. We’ve got the rest of our lives to say it,” Niall said, leaning in again to kiss the woman he loves.
