Freeform locs 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏𝟏𝟒⁣ 💕 ⁣⁣ As you can tell, my hair was tired but my face was exhausted because acne 😤⁣ ⁣ 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧...⁣ ⁣Locs is 3 months and 3 weeks old here. ⁣ • I 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 with 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Chunky or fluffy.⁣ 🇬🇭🇬🇭⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✅𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞: Diluted African black soap, no rinse out or leave in conditioner. Hair oil Mix and hair mist(clean water) 💦 were used when needed 😀⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘱 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 ⁣ Later, I put my locs in Bantu knots 🌻⁣ I tried to do a bentonite clay mask the following week after taking the knots out and it wasn’t great because I didn’t sieve the clay well. 🤗⁣ ⁣ I ended up rinsing my hair for about 30 mins to get tiny particles out. ⁣ 😅😅⁣ I had yarn braids a week later ( 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐨𝐧 how 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥) ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: ⁣This is the stage where the shrinkage got worse. I also noticed loose hair here and there and tried to wrap them around the closest loc. 🌻🤪⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My hair still felt fluffy and you can see my locs budding so well. I used a little Shea butter too.⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ⁣I got so used to my hair being locd and I wore it down mostly. Although I’ll wrap it sometimes to avoid dust and UV rays(makes hair brownish).⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I still got a lot of awkward comments and questions. I noticed people are more concerned about how I was going to loose them. ⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 & 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘤 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 😈⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣ There’s more of these coming - visual dreads journey. Here’s 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟔𝟒 ⁣ ⁣ Noticed any difference from the last LOC UPDATE?⁣ ⁣ •Remember I 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 with 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬. ⁣⁣⁣ Chunky or fluffy.⁣ 🇬🇭🇬🇭⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ✅𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞: I kept using the diluted African black soap to wash my hair and didn’t use any type of conditioners - no rinse out no leave in conditioner. 😀⁣ ⁣ I’ll mist my hair with my 𝐦𝐢𝐱 and oil my scalp every other day. ⁣ ⁣⁣ I was really surprised that my hair adjusted to the “no conditioner routine”⁣ ⁣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 are not advisable for budding locs because it can slow down the locing process and cause 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐮𝐩 if it’s not rinsed out properly. ⁣ ⁣ 𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘶𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮 🤪🤪⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: ⁣My 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫’𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 and I couldn’t hold it all up in a bun like before. However, the roots started thickening up and my two strand twists pattern was slowing fading into a frizzy lot. 🌻🤪⁣⁣ ⁣ My hair also felt really fluffy and light so I’ll give that to my keeping it simple routine. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ⁣I started to adjust with my looks. Some people call the first year of locing the 𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 but I didn’t feel the “awkwardness”. During this time, I got a lot of comments like “𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳?” “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘺 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘴𝘦?” ⁣ ⁣ People also digged their hands into my hair 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧(Nigerians do this a lot) 🇳🇬 I’ll be doing something random outside and suddenly, someone is touching my hair saying “𝐨𝐡 𝐰𝐨𝐰, 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥” 🤡🤡⁣ ⁣ There’s more of these coming - visual dreads journey.
