In 1564, Catherine de Medici, decided to build a new palace directly to the west of the Louvre; on the night of May 23,1871 some of the Commune’s forces, set fire in the palace.
Nowadays the “Jardins des Tuileries” has been expanded covering also that area, the building isn’t there physically but stays in our memory every time we walk over, around, and through the empty space.
