Amiot 143M Despite being outdated by the time the Spanish Civil War rolled around, the Amiot 143M still managed to be somewhat-useful to the French Air Force. Since bomber production rates were incredibly low, the French had no choice but to utilize the aircraft. They were used for reconnaissance and leaflet dropping over Germany during the Phoney War, and they managed to be relatively good at night bombing German airfields. The Amiot 143M couldn't be used during the day because of its lack of armermant; the large plane had a grand total of four 7.5mm MAC 1934s. After the fall of France, they were used for troop transport by both the Axis (in extremely limited numbers) and the Allies. By 1944, the Amiot 143M was completely retired. It holds a special place in my heart because of its dorky look and suprisingly decent combat record.
Had to put at least one french warbird here,a pretty decent plane for the beginning of world war two.French pilots were in a critical situation against the Luftwaffe, the ratio being one french airplane for nine german airplanes in battle, and the Bf 109 being a better plane than the D.520.
