#french student problems

I’m really worried about losing all the French I learned (9 YEARS, PEOPLE, NINE!)  I should get some workbooks or something to drill verbs or something since that’s always been a weakness of mine, but I also wish there was an easier way for me to practice conversation.  Whenever I search for courses to listen to in the car, they’re always at the super beginner’s level.  I would listen to the French news online, but I have trouble keeping up when they speak clearly.  Maybe I’ll do it anyway.  It can’t hurt to just let it wash over me and pick up what I can.

me: makes endless notes/revision cards for speaking exam.

me: does speaking presentation for teacher, has it memorised and is told it's fine,

me: can hold a ten minute conversation in french about said presentation and is told again, it's mostly fine just with one minor correction.

me: still had a week to prepare for speaking exam.

me: is still so terrified of doing this speaking exam that I may vomit.

like i just reblogged a post about sleep issues (i'm an unwilling insomniac in my free time) and i wanted to say i cannot express the depth que je connais but that doesn't like... work. well, actually, i was gonna put the depth of my connaissance but that's still not any better. that might actually be worse, depending. i just. this is so frustrating for me.

some french words are just better than english but they're not used here and i'll sound fucking weird and ultimately it will hinder other people's ability to understand me.

why, america? why? i should've been born canadian.

just walked out of a bathroom and nearly into another woman. instead of saying sorry i said désolée. i am ninety percent certain she didn't speak french.
