I woke up kinda dizzy. The room wasn't spinning but I couldn't walk in a straight line for the life of me. I did have some of my fave THC limeade but the usual 10 mg worth for sleep. Or so I thought. Maybe I need to check the digital scale to see if it's calibrated correctly. It's gotten better but I'm still not perfect.
Tomorrow is the neighborhood/HOA clean up day. Large yard/tree debris will be picked up. Neighbors volunteer to pick up garbage, update the painting of the sign for the subdivision, landscaping maintenance, etc. I had wanted to participate with maybe picking up garbage, but I sadly don't see that happening. Feeling better but I can tell that would probably lay me out.
No plans for the weekend other than maybe Costco (ugh) and catching up on chores.
I did see the black and white tom again yesterday. It's a good reminder to follow up with the guy who replied to my listserv email about the stray cats in the area
The first of this years medical appointments began with my PCP yesterday. Everything looking good aside from the fact I have to lose the winter weight I put on! 🤬🤬🤬 Best news: she’s giving me a new prescription for a pain reliever to help with the joint pain caused by my maintenance chemo pill. (Biggest problems caused by the tiniest pill!) I’m so excited to lay off the Ibuprofen before I have no liver left! Next up, new Chemo guy in April where I will definitely be discussing an end date on this damn pill. I’m at a quality of life vs quantity level of frustration with it.
Speaking of chemo, I’m finally (after 3 years) at a position that I’m happy with my hair regrowth and it’s pretty much back to normal (aside from being thinner due to that same damn pill). Vanity, thy name is Jeannie.
We’re not doing much for Easter this year, only the three of us, so I think it’ll be a pretty normal day. Still putting a basket together for the boy and I’ve already sent some goodies to Sixx at school. Well, I still decorated the porch and diningroom so I guess all that’s really missing is a big meal! But we don’t need those anymore (see first paragraph, lol) !
Saw a Facebook post by my cousin where my brother left several comments about my mother and apparently she’s still as evil and crazy af - I went no contact years ago - so a nice little reminder of a brilliant decision.
There’s a banana cream pie sitting in my fridge right now that I made yesterday. I’m trying desperately not to eat some for breakfast cuz bananas, duh. But that won’t help my ample ass! So instead I’m gonna go get said ass outside on the road in this gorgeous weather and maybe the craving will be gone by the time I get back or it might just become lunch. The struggle is real, y’all!
1) I discovered a mouse in my house two weeks ago. There were vague signs for a few days and then one of my avocados was nibbled sometime in the night — curly little strips of the peel left on the counter — and I knew for sure. I caught her in a humane trap with a piece of shredded wheat. She’d eaten the entire thing despite the stress of being trapped all night, so I popped another into the container. She curled her tail around it like a cartoon before I put her on my passenger seat and drove us out to the acres of wooded park and lake that puts on a Christmas light show every year. We walked off the hiking trail together and I released her into a camouflage-friendly area. I hope she’s steered clear of owls and found a nice little setup out there.
2) One of Adelaide’s school friends showed up to the house this afternoon. She was hand-delivering invitations to her quinceañera next month. This will be the first in a long wave of quinceañeras, which will be great fun. Better make a plan so Adelaide’s own regular 15th birthday doesn’t fall too flat in comparison.
3) We are BUSY this weekend. We’ll be up early tomorrow morning to get her to the first day of rec league volleyball tryouts. Later in the afternoon I drop her off at a sleepover, do laundry to prep for packing for Denver later in the week, and then have a business call with my sisters. In the morning, I pick Adelaide up at the friend’s mom’s pop-up cake pop shop (say that 5x fast), Adelaide gets a “permanent” anklet with friends, and we go to day 2 of tryouts. I’m already exhausted.
4) I was going to take her to Land’s End to buy khaki pants for her school uniform, but I just found out it’s permanently closed. According to the store finder, there isn’t another one within 200 miles of us. I guess Land’s End is rolling back on brick and mortar?
5) I went a little nuts at the MFA with NFA (another thing to say 5x fast) and bought three Van Gogh prints after going to their temporary exhibit. His work is so ALIVE in person. The bright, bright colors and the way the lines and perspective almost trick you into thinking they’re in motion. I’m usually not a print person, but they were good quality and I wanted to bring some of that feeling home with me.
Per request, this week's Friday Five is for x Reader fics--and specifically, Bucky x Reader, though there's at least one that includes Steve as well. Most of these authors have written scads of other x Reader fics, all worth your while, so I definitely recommend browsing their masterlists to see what else might appeal.
MCU Recs Masterlist
All of the fics are linked to Tumblr, with AO3 links if cross-posted.
The team thinks that Bucky is secretly in love with the Watchtower’s new interior designer. They don’t realize that Bucky is secretly married to the Watchtower’s new interior designer. And then you get pregnant. Chaos ensues. It’s amazing and funny and so, so sweet.

For Your Consideration by @daydreamgoddess14 (also on AO3)
(E, Bucky/Reader, Actor!AU focusing on the awards season, secret relationship, long-distance relationship, WIP but one chapter left)
Bucky Barnes is a Hollywood staple. You are the hottest new thing on the screen (though you’re a staple in the theatrical world). When the pair of you meet during Hollywood’s silly season, sparks fly. But can what you’re building together last after the last award is won—or will you lose each other and the Oscar, too? This is one of my favorite types of Reader characters, who has her own backstory and family and history and personality, and Day makes it so easy to fall into her, living this story vicariously through her. Plus there’s lots of pretty social media pics to enjoy as you read.

The Brooklyn Boys (series) by @buckets-and-trees
(E, Bucky x Reader and Steve x Reader, post-Endgame fixit AU, two competing storylines, Bookstore Owner!Reader)
This is such a fun concept for a story. Without giving the game away, it’s two competing storylines: one where the Reader has a meet-cute with Steve and you both hit it off romantically. And the other, the Reader starts a sort of frenemy stand-off with Bucky over a park bench that turns into sniping/flirting at each other about reading material. Both storylines are fun and flirty and it’s not until you’re halfway through the series that you realize… well. That’d be telling. I’ll let you figure it out for yourself. But trust me, that’s when things get interesting. (Wink wink, nod nod.)

Breakthrough by abstractnerddreams (on AO3)
(E, Bucky x Reader, Omegaverse AU, parenting, time skip)
The premise is a tale old as time: Winter Soldier Bucky falls into a rut with an Omega in her heat, disappears into the night afterwards. Omega You is left to raise the baby alone. Five years later, Bucky returns, memory and identity intact, and tries to right the wrong he made by leaving. I love this idea, and the emotions in it are all exactly right. It’s not an easy path back to each other, there’s give and take on both sides, but the pull to each other is so very well done. Just so much fun.

Diamond in the Rough by @navybrat817
(Mature but will undoubtedly go E before it’s done, Bucky x Reader, Trailer Park AU, WIP)
You have recently broken up with your boyfriend and have moved to a trailer park. Bucky is your unforgivably hot and super flirty neighbor who you are absolutely bound and determined not to sleep with. You will, of course, probably fail, but Navy hasn’t written that part yet. It’s gonna be so much fun when she does.
1, 2, 3. Yesterday we went to Pienza, the home of pecorino cheese. We even picked up some to bring back with us. This trip has been about walking around, eating well, and looking at beautiful things. I’m not mad about it.
4, 5. When I’m home, I like a nice cocktail if I’m out. I’m not out that often, seldom have more than 2, and never alone. In Italy, spritzes are €4-€7 and I’ve had one three days in a row since my husband got here. Sometimes they are “to go!”
6, 7. I pass through the Duomo piazza every day and take a photo of the cathedral every day. It’s so beautiful.
8, 9, 10. We went to Uffizi this morning for a little tour and to revisit some pieces from last time. The way da Vinci’s Annunciation changes when you walk from left to right is marvelous to experience in person.
