Bee, Swallowtail, Watermelon & Dinner
This is our biggest watermelon so far & it is sporting some scars from rat bites:
The Lemon Boy tomato & the purple hull peas are homegrown:
Tonight's badly lit multicultural comfort food delight!
I got an urge for more green beans and potatoes (which I put in a bowl so the juice doesn't run all over everything), and some fried corn with plenty of red pepper flakes added the way I like it. The corn doesn't look that brownish in reality.
Before I went to the store yesterday, I asked Mr. C what kind of meat he thought he might like with that. Usually he will say anything works, but this time he specifically requested meatballs. So, (pretty good and also GF!) frozen Swedish meatballs it is!
The mix spicy bearnaise sauce was my idea, since he usually wants some type of sauce with meats, and we hadn't tried that yet after he picked it up on the last Stockholm trip. (And I figured he might put it on the potatoes too.)
Not a bad combo at all. Pretty satisfying.
If I'd had the energy and enough cornmeal left, I'd have probably also made some cornbread to eat with my fried corn, not gonna lie 😅 But, we ended up with enough for a couple of meals anyway, as usual around here.
とうもろこしの唐揚げ // Chicken-Fried Corn THIS WAS AMAZING. We actually chose an oden place because the weather was getting colder, but this was the perfect way to see summer out. And with great company besides (hi @destinationtoast! we missed you, @todayintokyo!).
Combining my two favorites, fried onions and fresh corn, my husband came up with this very simple, delicious side dish.
