You have watched me flourish,
You have watched me die
You’ve spoken anthologies
While always remaining quiet
I have given the largest part of me
Towards growing with you
Everyday you wake up with those big brown eyes
Telling me “there’s nothing I’d rather do”
Your gentle disposition
Has led me through my darkest days
And you have given me a gift
I know I can’t repay
Though you have just over a decade
With me as your ground
I promise to make it the best it can be
And reciprocate the love I’ve found
You are the most important thing
I have ever taken on
And your legacy will shine

And the bugs and worms return me to the land
