Difficult Questions for Muses
“Going right for the throat with that one, aren’t we? This is not a cut and dry question for one such as myself.”
A very quiet and low chuckle follows.
“Now, if we’re talking about killing members of the legions of undead in the world, then things get a bit dark. We of Ecclesia are sworn to vanquish such beings and will strike first on the assumption that innocent life has already been harmed. I’m not particularly a fan of preemptive strikes on nests and the like, but the statistics are against these creatures that they will at some point hunt for innocent human flesh and blood. Of course, if we are called into a situation where such has already happened then it is no question time to balance the scales, as it were. Killing such creatures is surprisingly easy when you strive to protect your own species.”
A short pause as he seems uncertain about how to broach the next part of his answer.
“As for what might drive me to kill other humans… obviously that is an absolute last resort to be made in self defense or in the defense of an innocent. Even in a blind rage, I don’t think I would be capable of coldly murdering someone - I honestly think I would be more likely to entrap them and make them atone for whatever it was they did to put me in such a state. …Otherwise, I have had the unfortunate displeasure of dispatching the odd tainted, corrupted, or cursed individual before we could administer a cure or restraining glyph as they had b-lined directly for an unsuspecting target. -In fact most of our field members have had to make such a hard and horrible call in past missions… and we’re never quite the same after it.”
