To round out my notes about our visit to Gadsden, AL, we discovered that Capeside Fish Market is also a restaurant! You can look at and choose your fish right from the market, and they cook to order. This GF/DF gal got to eat some of the most flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth salmon with rice and coleslaw, while my kiddos enjoyed the catfish nuggets and a grilled cheese sandwich. These guys supply a number of restaurants with their fish within the state of AL… why not just go to the source? They’re technically located in Rainbow City, right next door to Gadsden.

And notice in the background… FRIOS POPS!! They stay stocked with fresh pops. So if you don’t have time to head to the Frios’ shop downtown, you can enjoy some pops for dessert!

If you’re visiting the southeast region of the US, Gadsden, Alabama is worth the drive from Birmingham. And Frios pops are right downtown. One block from the Children’s Imagination Place, this shop retains all the southern charm of a typical downtown square shop while creating a fun, colorful environment. And these pops are Ah.Maz.Ing. See the menu? All the fruity pops are GF/DF!! They have seasonal flavors, so no matter when you might find yourself visiting it’s worth a quick stop.
