(original) agent 3 / florentine: was in a competitive team with her friends but they got too into it and put too much pressure on her as their star player and for whatever reason she thought saving the zapfish would prove something to them but it didnt work out and ultimately she quit turf wars completely to work with cuttlefish for a couple years
agent 4 / fritta: lived on the coast in the splatlands but after losing her dad she had a lot of problems with her mom until eventually her older siblings decide to move out to inkopolis and take her with them. she got roped into the agent thing bc every time she tried turf wars the lobby was closing early due to power shortages (they didnt admit that though) and marie kept eyeballing her for like a week straight
agent 8 / poe: low ranking weapon technician who was desperate to move up but kept being turned down. after hearing the calamari inkantation she kept dreaming about finding a better life on the surface and after two years she worked up the courage to make a plan of escape with her brother and two of their closest friends. however everything went sideways when it turned out the route they were taking wasnt abandoned and was in fact littered with weird blue octopus that wanted to hurt them
neo 3 / kai: his parents are rich but both are so caught up in their jobs theyre never home to the point he had to move in with his aunt but she sucks so he tries to stay out as much as possible. when hes not at school or in the city hes out exploring in the desert, during one such outing he ran into cuttlefish and was made an agent but he didnt really care about the mission he was more interested in all the cool human shit in alterna. he met little buddy when he was helping clean up after a big run and she ate his whole lunch
