Every once in a while he thinks wistfully of the vows of obedience wives are supposed to make to their husbands. It's a pipe dream, really, but maybe there's a universe where Wei Wuxian doesn't do things like goading their enemies into chasing her to the burial mounds or sleeping with Lan Qiren's nephew or sneak into what is now enemy territory to rescue their parents.

Wei Wuxian elbows him in the side, "It's fine, it's fine, shut up."

This is not going to work, they're all going to die, and with his luck his mother is still going to manage to berate him before they do.

Hi Kim! Do you ever take fanbinding commissions? I've been tracking the auction bids and, while I REALLY want something in your style, I'm not sure how high I'm willing to go with 2ish days left and the bids still coming in hot.

I haven't, no. It's something I haven't 100% decided if I may do at some point in the future, but not any time soon. For now there are plenty of books I want to make for myself. Besides last time I started taking commissions for something I enjoyed it killed my enjoyment of the entire thing dead.

I recommend you look into some of the other people offering fanbinding in the FTH auctions.

Hao Mei loved his job. It was easy to get lost in creating art through code. He love Xiao Nai’s ability to build and design the kind of game they all wanted to play. But... It wasn’t the same as actually playing games. He liked playing on his alternate side characters when everyone else was too busy. And it had been forever since he and KO had played together. Because his devious boss had them working opposite schedules. Hao Mei complained about it under his breath to Wei Wei and she gave him a sympathetic look. He liked complaining to her. She made things happen because the office wives had to stick together. At the next office meeting she brought up a solution. “We need someone to test the female and male models to make sure the algorithms work. Hao Mei and KO should do it.” There were some snickers and Hao Mei felt himself blush but KO just said, “I’ve played female models before. They take more skill to play. I enjoy the challenge.” It shut up the laughter. Hao Mei just grinned all the way to the testing room. Then he pouted. “I wanted to be the girl this time.” KO ruffled his hair and slung his arm over his shoulders. “Then you can make dinner tonight.”

But what happened after getting called into the principal's office??? Did your mom rip the principal and teacher a new one? Hopefully there was a good resolution bc I'll be really sad if there were no repercussions for them. :(

I don’t remember EXACTLY what was said, but yes, my mom absolutely ripped them a new one. I was a really quiet kid, and I remember her accusing them of not paying any attention to me because I never made a fuss, noting that if they HAD, they’d realize that English and Reading were the two classes I always had straight As in, and that it made total sense for me to read at an advanced level. And if my teacher was so worried about it, she shouldn’t have let me take Don Quixote out of the library. It was pretty amazing. I definitely didn’t get in trouble for it in the end!

"I think Lan Wangji hates me by proxy," Jiang Cheng complains, collapsing on the ground and leaning on Wei Wuxian's side.

She shoves him off, but he just loses his balance and ends up mostly in her lap instead. He shifts, purposely elbowing her in the stomach, until his head is resting on her thigh. She doesn't shove him off again, so she must feel at least a little guilty. "If you hadn't gotten caught, then you wouldn't have been punished."

"You're the one that was sending him love notes," Nie Huaisang says. "If you'd been able to keep it in your pants, Lan Wangji wouldn't have confiscated it and gotten him in trouble."

Jiang Cheng doesn't make a face at that through years of exposure to Nie Huaisang giving him and Wei Wuxian shit for their engagement. "It was literally her gloating about finding the hot spring before us. Which is why I got punished."

Wei Wuxian and A-jie high five. He's still convinced they cheated, somehow.

"But what did it say?" Nie Huaisang presses.

"Uh, 'I'll show you something really cool tonight if you're good', I think," he says, then looks up to scowl at Wei Wuxian who seems very proud of herself. "Because clearly if you're going to gloat you have to be patronizing about it too."

"Obviously," she says, unrepentant.

Nie Huaisang looks between them all, eyebrow raised. "You know he totally thought that you were going to sneak out to fuck."

A-jie wrinkles her nose at the same time that Jiang Cheng says "Gross" and Wei Wuxian asks, "If that's true, then why was he so mad about it? Obviously sneaking into the hidden hot spring is bad, but why would he care about me and Jiang Cheng?"

Nie Huaisang has that look on his face that he gets whenever he thinks Jiang Cheng is being particularly stupid. He's not used to seeing it directed at Wei Wuxian. "An absolute mystery. There's probably a rule against it, or something."

"There's at least four," A-jie points out, and then it all devolves into a conversation about which Lan rule is the most ridiculous.

She hadn’t seen him yet. He’d managed to sneak into the open bar that was in full swing and add his name to the set list. His brother’s information suggested Ji-Won came here often and didn’t get a private room.

Sung-Min’s palms began to sweat as he hoped this would at least get her talking to him again. He still had no idea what he was going to say to her but there was no turning back now.

His name was called and a collective groan went up. He knew why. He’d picked her song. He swallowed as the intro played and found her in the crowd. Sung-Min had no idea what possessed him to meet her eyes and then say:

“Song Ji-Won, this one is for you.”

Ji-Won’s voice haunts him as he makes the trip to Jeju. He doesn’t know what he’s going to say to her. He has nothing to offer her, considering she completely cut him out of her life once she found out about his wealth.

Sung-Min winces at that thought as he remembers a better time--during the staff karaoke party. He knows he can’t hold his alcohol, so he doesn’t drink at the party, and to his surprise, neither did Ji-Won. 

I am listening. Team Leader can’t sing.

She rolls her eyes and shakes her head. You’re so blind. Pay attention.

Sung-Min clenches his jaw. Ji-Won always knew people’s secrets. She had the uncanny ability to know personal details, desires, and hopes just by talking to a person. He thought he was lucky he kept his family a secret from her for so long. He knows he’s not a catch. She can do better. But...

People tell the truth when they sing karaoke. It’s safe.

It’s humiliating. Especially, if you’re drunk and can’t sing.

Fuck. His throat closes up and it hurts to swallow. 

It’s liberating. Listen. No, really listen.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. He’s going to have to sing.
