Thank you very much! I know you sent this Sep 22 but hey better late than never! I actually decided to spin a wheel to choose an OC to write using this... and it picked Gramm! (spider/insect/frog mentions)
Gramm (& Kevin, and Lady Hylla), prompt "sunlight”
.
As he followed the other servants into the lavish, rose-decorated drawing room, Gramm's first thought about the new type of windowpane was... it was odd.
Not that he disliked it. (He knew better than to comment on Lady Hylla's tastes.) He didn't particularly like it either. It was... simply odd. The panes were hexagonal, golden hued, and faintly cloudy. Would anyone even be able to see through it...?
“Ribbit,” Kevin commented. He always had something to say about the decor.
Chelicerae shifted. Gently securing the amphibian in two arms, Gramm crouched slightly. Another hand silently tapped a panel. He could see the shapes of his coworkers through it, but no details. He supposed... it could be less something to look through, and more so that others couldn't look in. He didn't know how to feel about this additional layer of secrecy in the manor. What else could Lady Hylla be plotting, to require it...?
Servants switched positions. Panes were rotated. Now, the sunlight from the current window drifted through its replacement. Warmth flooded a patch of polished floorboards and carpet. It was as if someone had poured a beautiful, rich honey at his feet... ah.
Hairs standing on end, Gramm relented to his Lady's choice. House Bee's talents in honey-craft were indisputable. It did bring an almost dreamy quality to the room... which, unfortunately, wasn't meant for a welcoming host and delighted guests. He rather thought it suited a room dedicated to wild flowers, or a child's bedroom, or for cute little pets. It was... wasted, here.
“You.”
Startled, Gramm straightened lightning-fast. “Yes!” Lady Hylla. Kevin croaked in protest to the panicked squeeze. “Yes, m-my Lady!”
“You will be in charge, of cleaning this window once it's installed.” Her beady gaze tangled his thoughts in a gut-wrenching manner. Despite standing a bit taller than his Lady, he never felt smaller than when in her presence. “I trust you know to follow, the special instructions, for its care. To ensure it remains beautiful, as ever.”
He bowed with repeated assurances and apologies, silently patting the frog's head. If she had been in a worse mood and felt he had ignored her entrance... He withheld the shudder until she had turned to another servant to criticize his uniform's wilting rose. (He adjusted his own on automatic.) Eyeing the window, he apologized silently to the one who had crafted it. A beauty... Simply another acquisition of Lady Hylla of House Spider.
