the character i least understand:tbh greer is the most underdeveloped villain of the entire series which is disappointing considering we were stuck with him as endgame. not even his flashback episode tells you anything substantial about him. people like elias, control, collier, etc all had entirely understandable motivations despite the fact that they were antagonists but he’s just the “har har evil” kind which feels out of place when the rest of the series works so hard at humanizing their villains.
interactions i enjoyed the most:literally anytime team machine does found family stuff together really does it for me. but i guess if i had to pick faves it’d be a tie between harold’s & root’s interactions and harold’s relationship with the machine. not only because i’m weak for that kind of patchwork non-bio parental relationship but also because i feel like that’s where all three characters are at their most interesting and where their philosophical conflicts are at their most stark.
the character who scares me the most:samaritan actually. not because i’m particularly scared of the ai apocalypse but because that kind of cold logic that deems people expendable for the good of everyone else exists in humans too and they have historically not been kind to people like me.
the character who is mostly like me:leon tao lmao i too am a human disaster who excitedly yells “finchie!” when they see harold finch
hottest looks character:i would let sameen shaw do unspeakable things to me
one thing i dislike about my fave character:his reluctance to assign personhood to the machine. like, i get why and i completely understand where he’s coming from but it hurts me to see her hurt. :( she just wants you to love her dadmin
one thing i like about my hated character:she’s not in it for most of the show lmao... also the breakup scene where john literally runs away after a successful meeting of the family because suddenly it’s real and not just this weird fantasy he’s cooked up which is one of the more hilarious examples of gay panic i’ve seen
a quote or scene that haunts me:man where do i even fucking start. there are so many moments that fuck me up?? finally finding out what happened to nathan, mainly because the lead up to that was so masterfully slow paced that the eventual reveal hit like a gut punch. the entirety of terra incognita. “you’re my safe place.” when root reveals that the machine is alive for the first time at the end of season 2. “i’m pretty sure i’d be dead already if you hadn’t found me.” it’s just. A Lot.
a death that left me indifferent:elias...... like yeah he’s the weird crime uncle and his relationship to team machine is cute and all but i didn’t care enough to be honestly affected by it.
a character i wish died but didn’t:honestly i’m uh. Unsatisfied to say the least by the ending. if they had to kill off these characters they might as well have gone for a full wipeout. if i can’t have all of them alive and happy then all i wanted was for john & harold and root & shaw to die hand in hand in some blaze of glory....... fusco can stay alive and keep the dog idc.
my ship that never sailed:JUSTICE FOR REESE/FINCH! IT’S REAL AND TRU AND CANON AND THEY’RE IN LOVE AND PINED FOR SO MANY SEASONS AND AFTER ALL THAT DELIBERATE GAYBAITING THEY DESERVED BETTER THAN A FULL SEASON OF NO HOMOS AND WHATEVER THAT ENDING WAS.
