Not a big fan of the pro-religious left cause it's always 'you ought to respect people's strongly held spiritual beliefs' like ok I'm not joking when I say maybe you should have more respect for my strongly held belief that none of this shit is real

for real tho it feels exhausting that ive seen this whole "woman should be allowed to abstain from X beauty standard" -> "i perform X beauty standard, am i evil? do you think im evil? please forgive me i came up with a dozen excuses 🥺" since like 2015 (and i know its been going on longer than that) like girl thats not the poiiiiint
look me in the eyes. repeat after me. "i face societal pressure to perform this beauty standard. i should not face that pressure. i conform to this standard. i am rewarded for performing to this standard. i need to respect women who do not perform this standard. this is not about whether or not i am a sinner for wearing makeup."

the backlash against "this has been talked about extensively you're just 21" is a form of anti-intellectualism
if you really think that some twitter random's half-formed replication of queer media readings from first principles is more valuable than any preexisting critical theory, you are expressing a conservative-reactionary distrust of experts
any response you have to that tweet that isn't "yeah this person should read more instead of trying to reinvent the wheel" is an admission that you think reading and understanding and building off preexisting knowledge are less helpful and valuable than just going off Vibes
you can argue that the Tone of the response should have been Nicer (and I would probably agree) but the only way you can disagree with the Substance of the response is if you don't think the existing critical canon holds any value
