Okay so!!!! When designing this bind I listened to The Role Model and The Long Game mostly so it is mostly Ilya coded. I envisioned the blend color scheme of Boston Raiders (black+yellow) and Ottawa Centaurs (black+red). Hence velvet black cover material (don’t do this to yourselves, it somehow collected all the dust from my apartment in like 30 minutes), maroon endpapers and straw yellow ribbon.
For endpapers I also added some quotes from the show and the boys’ numbers and initials (notice H for Hollander is next to R for Rozanov which also makes HR for Heated Rivalry 🤓)

I also made my very first dust jacket!! Took an Uber across the city to have it printed and have been thinking about buying A3 printer ever since 🙃 made in Canva of course. I really miss Photoshop in times like these but alas, subscriptions.
Front and back covers as well as this post’s header were made using photo edits by @frenchnbookish. Do yourself a favour and check out her edits, they are honestly hilarious on top of being just SO.PRETTY. I gotta admit if not for this shinny, I would still figure out a way to make this particular edit a book cover because it totally absolutely 100% should be. Connor is somehow perfect Ilya here and Hudson is miraculously Shane-like 😅
Sewn using french stitch, glued spine then added endpapers. I managed to forget how to impose but @citrusses had my back 💛

I've honestly dreamt of the experience of reading-fanfic-as-a-book for SO LONG. And when I saw Phoenix’s bind of this fic I just decided - yep, that’s it. I’m fucking binding that and reading it like a book that I bought at local bookstore because it fucking deserves to have this form and physically being on my shelf.
Why have I decided to choose a 100k+ work as my first project ? See, I didn’t ! It was stronger than me ! I just had to have it!
Counting the pages and figuring out how to print and (what’s the word for putting the pages in right order? Anyway, doing that) imposing has taken me days. Once I figured it out my printer has rebelled and the ink run out. OBVIOUSLY. But once I figured it out… The printing became totally addicting. Just one more signature 😅
Why did I think that 5 pages per signature would be perfect amount which resulted in 20+ signatures to be sewn in the very first binding project? I don’t know, okay. Mistakes were made 😅
Turns out I love the sewing and hate the fucking knots. Wax threads only from now on.
Glueing the spine was nerve-wrecking bc I hate the permanence of the glue in general. But I made it!
Designing the cover took me ages and I was this close to buying a circuit or whatever this fancy equipment for making gold cover titles is named. Thankfully, Phoenix helped me out with suggestion of a half bind and soon after that the case was done!
Glueing in the case… I miscalculated the spine height. And had one of the endpapers glued in totally all over the place so I had to rip it off and find a new one (ended up even prettier hihi). The case is still pretty uneven but hey, now I know, right? 😁
And then… I could take my book, which I made with my own hands, in my own living room. Which was actually gay time travelling love story and read it in a train. And by the sea on vacation.
I am hooked. Watch this space bc I am now addicted to buying all sorts of termoactive foils and pretty canvases and new pretty threads. And seeing fics come to live obviously 🤍🤍🤍

Hihihi, it’s one of those posts that I’ve been writing in my head for some time now :D As soon as I’ve found out what fanbinding even is, I just KNEW dodger’s fics will be one of those I’ll simply have to bind.
So while Dodger is finding this lil bind on her doorstep, let me show you what I've been cooking for some time now :D
It was one of those projects that came to me while rereading the fic. See, it’s divided into parts. Each part is about one flower and its meaning. So as soon as I was done reading I made these notes on some loose sheet of paper:

This is a fanbind of the TTPD lyrics by Taylor Swift, made for personal use only. The typeset is made to mirror the official lyrics videos which is SO.COOL!
It will be a gift to a friend who introduced me to Taylor's music 🤍

god, I'm so excited!!!!! This is a very first bind that I share with an audience of more than 1 internet person so please be gentle with me haha
I only found out about what binding is and how AWESOME it is by fanfic binders here on tumblr. I do plan on ficbinding in the future so watch that space!! Honestly, having those beloved words on paper rather than your phone screen is just SO PRECIOUS.
It's actually my second bind. The first one is honestly still just so close to my heart I haven't shared it with the Internet yet, maybe in some time :') As I am just a beginner this bind has maaaany flaws - I didin't get the format right, trimming my text block with an old photo trimmer was a Bad Idea™, I printed the photo on the wrong end of the canvas so I had to just glue it on :D And so on and so on, but I'm gonna learn from these mistakes when creating the next one!!! For the things that did work out: I wanted the theme colours to be the colours of TTPD on the Eras Tour so white, black and gold. I used the plainest cream canvas available, with just a white and black photo on the cover, gold lettering on the spie and a lil sticker on the back. For endpapers I printed my favourite quotes from the songs and then foiled it. AND I managed to sew with a non-wax thread without crying too!
I had the ambition of starting from the very beginning - so making a typeset myself. And then I lost my patience about half an hour in and decided to stick to ready typesets first :D
Now, for the Taylor contents! I absolutely love the concept of lyrics videos, they just make the words really hit you, you know? So when I saw Phoebe very kindly sharing the Taylor typesets they made - I may have screamed a little :D And I absolutely knew that it will be a gift to a fellow Swiftie - a friend whose fault it is I am in this Taylor Swift-shaped madness since last year!
My Swiftie story is pretty new really - I liked Taylor, sure, I liked how kind she was, I liked her mainstream songs, absolutely loved how she DEVASTATED me with Safe and Sound back in my The Hunger Games era. But I didn't really know her other songs or much about her. And then Ela took me to the cinema to see The Eras Tour and well. Here we go, some months later and I am still going on and on about the brilliance of it. I got to see it life in Warsaw, which was a life-altering experience and couldn't get it out of my head ever since.
Hence, the literal studies of the lyrics :D
It really is a special moment for me because I dreamed of learning how to bind your own book. And it really is a full-circle kind of situation. Why? Well, because going to see the Eras Tour life made me believe dreams do come true - so chase them! So I went to bookbinding workshop, bought the materials and here we are!

I had this bind half done for a few months already 😅 hence the 2025 in the title page xD Seeing this year’s amazing entries I thought I simply MUST have it done in the dronarry time of the year so I can have my own little input into one of my fav OT3’s tag 🥹

I used pink thread!!!!! Also you can’t really see it but the cover is cloth and it’s more pink than cream! For the dust jacket I chose to use elements vital to the story - the boys’ patronus forms, the blocks, the kite, les bulles magiques, the mobile. I tried to make it in a way to imitate children’s book.

Harry’s bed is empty.
Ron freezes. He doesn’t move except to blink, slow and steady. Hallucination? Mental breakdown? Is he having a coronary right this moment? Has he lost his mind?
The Healer part of him finally moves closer.
Empty bed. Empty sheets. Ron pats the mattress with the flat of his hand, just in case.
Empty.
His heart is in his ears and his feet are numb when he gets to Draco’s room.
Ron’s knees actually give out when he finds both Harry and Draco in the bed. Harry sleeps in a little ball, his legs folded into Draco’s side. Draco sprawls on his stomach, one arm thrown over Harry’s shoulders. He frowns a bit in his sleep and murmurs something—in French, Ron’s pretty sure, but he might not understand English at this point, he’s so relieved—but doesn’t wake.
