What are your favorite friendships between the group? :)
Ooooooh, this ended up something I tricked myself into thinking is a much more trick question than it actually was (same thing happened ages ago when an anon asked who I thought the best god/dess was and to rank them in order from best to worst. Still rewatching and taking notes and ranking and reranking and writing justifications to those rankings and this is MONTHS after they sent it in so uh, sorry for the tangent, this is just my long winded way of saying I made this into a much more difficult question to answer than it should have been but also not the worst example of how thoroughly I can overthink something to death)
Anyway. Favourite friendship!
Now, knee-jerk reaction is Archie and Atlanta. Love the banter and competitiveness, with the underlying layer of affection and loyalty. BUT --this is where my overthinking comes in!-- would they count as a friendship? Because they (Archie definitely) have feelings stronger than friendship and yeah, by the end of the series they're all hand-holdy and post-swim date that wasn't. So they're a couple, with a romantic relationship, so that seems like a cop out answer for favourite friendship.
So that brings me to my next favourite, which I can't decide on between Herry and Odie and Theresa and Atlanta. Herry and Odie get my vote because I love that they're both so opposite yet CLEARLY best friends. When they started the new school and people noticed the smallest, brainiest and therefore nerdiest of the new students and zeroed in, you bet your buttons Herry wandered over, munching an apple, casually picked up the leader by the shirt collar with one hand and looked at Odie and asked, "These guys bothering you?" and yeah, they never even looked at Odie funny ever again. They spend their time teasing Neil, and being a fully functioning unit of Brawns and Brains and Odie is tougher than he looks, and Herry is softer than he looks and they balance each other out nicely. They just seem like the bestest bros to ever best bro and I love them and their bromance and can see why people ship them.
But on the other hand, I also love, love, loooooove Theresa and Atlanta because again, they got their opposite thing going. Atlanta is more rough and tumble and you'd think that'd mean she and Theresa would clash, but NO! They DON'T! Theresa doesn't look down on Atlanta for being a tomboy-- Theresa's pretty rough and tumble herself when you get down to it. They joined a sports team together, that's how not-sick of each other they are. Theresa is tough and Atlanta is tough and they stand up for each other, even to their own teammates. (That bit on Dreamweaver, when Jay was all, "This is important!" and Atlanta got all up in his face and went, "Yeah, so's Theresa! >:(" comes to mind every time I think about these two and how much they look out for each other.) Theresa's been and only child and Atlanta has two brothers, so of course the girls gravitate to each other in the house full of boys.
Okay, so now that I'm writing these out and thinking about it "out loud" instead of just in my head, I'm definitely leaning more towards Atlanta/Theresa as my favourite friendship, but only if Archie and Atlanta don't count.
Arghhhhhh, but Herry and Odie are there and being #friendship goals.
Yeah, no, kay. Sticking with that answer. Archie/Atlanta if that counts as friendship, Atlanta/Theresa if it doesn't. Right. Yeah, I feel good with that.

EDIT: could have saved myself a lot of headache and you a lot of reading if I had read more carefully in the first place and seen that it clearly said “friendshipS” plural, I could have just answered without trying to narrow it down. Jeesh, it’s almost like it’s basically 5 am or something (it is, it’s currently 4:44 and I don’t even remember when I started goofing off here on Tumblr, but it was well after 1 am so uh, we’ve been here for a while)
